10K Robot Layout

Hello and Welcome!

I do love scrapbooking. It lets you relive those really great moments in life. Aaron's robotics team won the Engineering Inspire Award again at the 10k Lakes tournament in Minneapolis. We are so proud of the talented kids. And here they are:

Having teen boys, Kaisercraft's "Off The Wall" collection works so well with everything they are into. All the pattern papers, letters, stickers and most of the diecuts are from this line by Kaisercraft. I also used Simon Says Stamps' "Circle Loops" die and splatted Color Shine (in the school colors and gold). To add texture, mesh and silver thread were added. This page is based on a sketch from the Kaisercraft blog.

CAS Enjoy Card

Hello and Welcome!

So much is going on now, with all the paper crafting companies coming out with their wonderful new releases. There is so much inspiration, I just want to craft night and day. Here is my latest card:

I started with CAS-ual Fridays' Brickworks stamp and Simon Says Stamp Slate gray ink to create a background (which was inspired by Papertrey Inks' challenge photo). Next I stamped, heat embossed (with Stampendous' white powder), watercolored with Zig Clean Color markers and fussy cut the Papertrey Ink Delightful Dahlias. Then thin gold thread was adhered to the corner with the flowers and leaves. The Simon Says Stamp "enjoy" diecut was cut from gold glitter and black paper and layered with Glossy Accents. I finished this card off by adding the panel to DCWV white corrugated paper, sequin butterfly, homemade enamel dots, and Color Shine black splatters.

I used CAS-ual Fridays' Brickworks stamp and enamel dots-no pattern paper-glitter.
I used Simon Says Stamp's Slate Gray ink and Enjoy diecut. Plus a sequin butterfly and texture everywhere.
I was inspired by the gray & white rug and flower pillow from the challenge photo and I used Papertrey Inks' Delightful Dahlia stamp set.
I colored this on day 21.

Sunshine Inlay Card

Hello and Welcome!

I loved MFT "Camp Create" Counselor Stephanie's video about double inlaid diecutting. So I gave it a try and here is my card:

Yep, this is a one layer card. It was a little tricky, but I followed Stephanie's tips. I used My Favorite Things Sun Ray Die-namics and Jumbo Cloud Stax. The smaller cloud was cut from the back to get a reverse orientation. I created the sky paper with several blue Distress inks. The yellow is glitter paper by DCWV. The sun rays are a copper foiled paper. The is sentiment is by WPlus9. I finished off this card with Pretty Pink Posh clear sequins.

This was a really fun technique and I love the results!

Embossed Striped Card

Hello and Welcome!

I was inspired by Stephanie's "Camp Create" video on the MFT blog to stamp on Kraft. Using Background Builder stripe stamps, suggestions from Laura Bassen's Heat Wave video and lots of Zing embossing powders, I created this colorful card:

Each stripe was stamped with Versamark, coated with colored Zing embossing powder and heated. Time consuming, but so worth it. The Kraft cardstock really makes the colors pop, too. To finish off the card, I added a vellum banner diecut from Simon Says Stamp's Bundle Of Stitched Shapes with a sentiment from My Favorite Things Celebrate Big set and sequin stars.

Jumping Santa Card

Hello and Welcome!

For today's MFT Camp Create card, I was inspired by Counselor Francine to stamp a background. Here is my take on her idea:

I wanted to create a forest, so using My Favorite Things "Trim A Tree" stamp and 2 green Quick Quotes Powder Puff Chalk inks, I stamped the entire background. Then, for a focal point, I stamped one tree with Versamark and heat embossed it with Ranger's metallic green powder. The sentiment is also from MFT's "Trim A Tree" set and is also heat embossed. Santa is from My Favorite Things "Jingle All The Way" set and was colored with Copic markers & fussy cut. He is popped up with 3L's Foam Squares.

Hey Chick Card

Hello and Welcome!

Today is a two-fer. I was inspired by Laurie at My Favorite Things masking video and Laura Bassen on the Heat Wave online card class video to create a colorful background using a stencil. So here is how I combined these two techniques:

I rubbed Versamark ink through a Heidi Swapp stencil onto slate cardstock. Then, working very quickly, I added a rainbow of colored Zing embossing powders and heated it. The cute little chicken images are from My Favorite Things "Whole Herd" set, stamped with Hero Arts hybrid ink, colored with Copic markers, and fussy cut. The banner is Simon Say Stamp's "Bundle of Stitched Shapes" cut from vellum. The sentiments are from Simon Say Stamp "All Boy" set (HEY) and My Favorite Things "Whole Herd" (chick). I stamped them with Versamark black and Ranger embossing powder, the machine stitched it onto the panel.

Happy 10th MFT Card

Hello and Welcome!

My Favorite Things turned 10 years this month! To help them celebrate I created this card with 10 My Favorite Things Mini Wavy Banners:

I also used MFT's Cloud Stax as a mask and created a cloud background with Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress inks. The sentiment, which was stamped with Versafine black ink and heat embossed with Ranger clear embossing powder, is from My Favorite Things Celebrate Big stamp set. I matted this panel on DCWV pattern paper. And to finish it off I used Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

Favorite Gamer Card

Hello and Welcome!

Having teen and twenty year old boys, video games are big around here. So it is fun to make them cards - they really like them. Here is my latest:

I followed a couple of techniques from Day 1 of the Heat Wave online card class. The stars, die cut from My Favorite Things Die-namite Star Stax, followed Yana's idea to press them into Versamark ink and add Ranger black embossing powder a couple of times. Love the glossy look. For the buttons on the game controller, I used Jennifer McGuire's idea to use a glue pen to hold the colored Zing embossing powders. It worked very well in those tiny spots. The game controller is a stamp from Simon Says Stamps called All Boy which I also stamped in Versamark ink and embossed in Ranger silver embossing powder and fussy cut. The background is a silver textured foil paper by Recollections. The sentiment is a My Favorite Things stamp from their Level Up set which was stamped with Versafine black ink and embossed in Ranger's clear powder. I finished off this card with silver thread and Viva silver dimensional paint.

TCP Christmas Card

Hello and Welcome.

I am still on Day 2 of Heat Wave. Jennifer McGuire showed us how to use water to hold embossing powder. But try as I might, I could not get this to work. So I tried my own idea. I splattered Heidi Swapp Color Shine instead of water, then added Ranger silver embossing powder and heated it. Got the look first try! Check it out:

I was inspired to create this card by the Christmas Challenge over at The Cat's Pajamas (TCP). I recently got this fun TCP set with Sprinkles the cat in an oversized sweater. It just cracks me up. After I finished the silvered background, I used a snow stencil from The Crafter's Workshop with Distress inks. TCP's cat image was colored with Copic markers, fussy cut and popped up with 3L Form Squares. I also stamped the TCP sentiment with Versamark black ink and Ranger clear embossing powder. I finished it off with ribbon and a Taylored Expressions' snowflake medallion diecut.
