Celebrate With Santa

Hello and Welcome!

I love this card as it features two of my favorite and oldest stamps by Paper Smooches. I still remember seeing that cute little deer from the Happy Camper set and falling in love with it. And it just wouldn't be Christmas without Jerome The Gnome showing up as Santa on a few cards.

The background was created by ink blending violet and blue Distress Oxide Inks and then splattering white pearlize paint. Paper Smooches "Celebrate Word" die was cut 3 times, layered together and coated with Glossy Accents. Paper Smooches gnome, from the Forest Whismy stamp set, was colored with Zig water color marker. The deer from Paper Smooches Happy Camper stamp set was stamped on brown pattern paper and fussy cut. A glittery gold ribbon was added for a holiday sparkle.

Two-fer Cards, part 2

Hello and Welcome Back!

This is a continuation from the last post...

You gotta love a two-fer! This second card uses the reverse pieces from Paper Smooches "Dove"die left over from the first card. It also uses the "Celebrate" die cut from gold glitter and white cardstocks. The sequins are by Kat Scrappiness. A fun red & green ribbon was added to draw attention to the sentiment. Gold mirror and green cardstocks were used for the background.

Two-fer Cards

Hello and Welcome!

I love Paper Smooches "Dove" die and made, not one, but two cards with it! See my next post for the second card

The first Christmas card uses some playful non-traditional colors and features Paper Smooches "Dove" die cut along with Paper Smooches "Celebrate Word" die - which was die cut 3 times, layered together and coated with Glossy Accents. A sparkly green and gold ribbon was added to tie everything together.

Happy New Year Coffee Card

Hello and Welcome!

We have a lot of thank you cards to get out this time of the year, and I thought it would be fun to combine them with a Happy New Year wish...

This was a fun card to create. I used mostly CAS-ual Fridays products. The pine branch, stamped with several different green inks, and the sentiment are from CAS-ual Fridays' Pinecones stamp set. The adorable cups are from their Coffee Cup Fri-dies. The colorful mat was stamped with CAS-ual Fridays' Full On Floral set and colored with Zig watercolor markers. The background was embossed with Taylored Expressions' Dotted Lattice folder. This card is based on a sketch from the Coffee Loving Cardmakers.

Trim the Tree with Quick Quotes

Hello and Welcome!

Hope you are enjoying the holidays! Today I am up on the Quick Quotes blog with this page.

Here is a page featuring Quick Quotes' Holly Jolly Holiday Papers:

Several of the papers in this paper pack have most of the design work done for you. All you really need to do is add photos! For this page I created journaling strips across the tree using Holly Jolly Holiday 103 (green) and edged them with Seafoam PowderPuff Chalking Ink.

Next, 2 photos were double matted with Holly Jolly Holiday 101 and 103, and edged with Seafoam PowderPuff Chalking Ink.

I added a title along the curved circle element at the top along with a few gems (because what's Christmas without a little sparkle).

So if you have a lot of Christmas photos you want scrapped fast and looking fabulous, check out the Holly Jolly Holiday Paper Pack!

Fun Background Technique with PowderPuff Chalking Inks

Hello and Welcome!  I am up on the Quick Quotes blog today with this card.

I hope you are enjoying the holidays. Here is a cute card using a fun technique with Quick Quotes' PowderPuff Chalking Inks:

I love experimenting with PowderPuff Chalking Inks and today I will be demonstrating the "packaging technique."

Start by smooching different colors of ink on a plastic sandwich bag and then spray with water. (I prefer the baggie over other packaging as my hand fits into it, giving me more control and less stained fingers!) Then press onto watercolor paper. I used Bermuda, Baja Blue, Deep Sea and Violet PowderPuff Chalking Inks.

Mat the watercolor paper on white cardstock and Autumn Brilliance 102 edged with Deep Sea PowderPuff Chalking Ink.

The polar bear's hat and scarf were paper pieced from Autumn Brilliance 103. The stars were die cut from silver glitter paper. The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed.

Joy Joy Joy Card

Hello and Welcome!

Everyone seems to love getting homemade cards. Some people even keep them for years! I am always so amazed and flattered by the compliments, as I just make them for fun. Speaking of fun, here is a very JOYful card:

The Christmas trees are Memory Box's Snowy Tree Landscape die (I trimmed off the clouds), which were stamped with Cas-ual Friday's Full On Floral stamp and white heat embossed. This little scene was inspired by a photo on the CAS-ual Friday blog. The little Santa and Joy stamps are from Gina K's Seasons Greetings set. The Santa was colored with Zig watercolor markers. And lots of sparkly gems were used.

    Christmas Lights Page

    Hello and Welcome!

One of the first things we do to kick off the holidays is hang the Christmas lights. I say "we," but really it is Jeff braving the snow and cold to bring a us the colorful shine on these dark nights.

This page uses some older products, like the large snowflakes by K & Co. and the puffy sticker snowflakes by SEI. I wrapped gold thread around the colorful light pattern paper.

    Warmest Wishes Coffee Card

    Hello and Welcome!

We are making the final college tour for my son here in Milwaukee, WI. So we are traveling, and this card was created in a hotel room with minimum supplies. It is fun and challenging to create this way.

The cute coffee cup is a Fri-Die cut by Cas-ual Fridays. I stamped it with CAS-ual Fridays' Full On Floral set and colored it with Zig water color makers. The white background circle and tree pattern paper were inspired by CAS-ual Fridays' snow globe inspiration photo.

This card is based on a card sketch from Sketch N' Scrap. The sentiment is by Hero Arts. I wrapped gold thread around the top of the card for a finishing touch.

    Cup of Christmas

    Hello and Welcome!

I tried a new-to-me technique of blending inks on colored cardstock and I love it! It is so much easier and the colors are so rich. Check it out:

For the background, black Versfine Ink was blended on the outside of purple cardstock, then Dreamweaver's shiny gold embossing paste was applied over Winnie & Walter's Big Bang Classic Star Creative Screening. It looks awesome and was so easy. Great for mass production.

Two Papertrey Ink die cut deer and a Cas-ual Fridays' coffee cup were added. The sentiment is by Verve Stamps and it was heat embossed with Stampendous' white embossing powder.

    Deer Tag with Alcohol Ink

    Hello and Welcome!

A beautiful handmade tag can really dress up a gift, and it is a gift in itself.  Here is a pretty deer tag made with Ranger Alcohol Inks on silver foil paper:

Holly Jolly Holiday Cards with Quick Quotes

    Hello and Welcome!

Today I am up on  the Quick Quotes blog.

It is now crunch time for sending out Christmas cards, and I have a couple quick cards featuring the new Holly Jolly Holiday line.

The Holly Jolly Holiday Quotes and Phrases are pretty enough to stand alone, but you can kick it up and put in your own twist by adding any stamps or die cuts you have on hand.

For my first card, I cut out the "Noel" quote and adhered it to Autumn Brilliance 105, edging both with Seafoam PowderPuff Chalking Ink. The ivy (die cut from Holly Jolly Holiday 101) was tucked around the edges of the quote.

To create the brown deer, Mahogany PowderPuff Chalking Ink was applied to Autumn Brilliance 105 and then die cut. Gems were added to finish off the card.

For the second card, the "Winter Blessings" quote was adhered to Holly Jolly Holiday 101, edging both with Seafoam PowderPuff Chalking Ink. Snowflakes (die cut from Autumn Brilliance 105) were tucked behind the quote and Stickles was added to glitter them up. The little girl and gifts are stamps that were colored and fussy cut. Again, to finish off the card, gems were added.

    It's Aaron's Birthday!

    Hello and Welcome!

Today is Aaron's birthday! He's turning 18 years old!!! That's a big one. We started his big day with a YO YO's doughnut, complete with candle, for breakfast. Then it was off to school. For dinner we had his favorite, wild rice soup and cheddar biscuits. Next is homemade cake, gifts, and this card I just made for him.

I used Dare 2 B Artsy "Fields Of Joy" pattern papers. The pattern paper looks like Christmas lights, so it is perfect for a December birthday. The cute kids are stamps from Waffle Flower colored with Zig watercolor markers. The glittery snowflakes are by Lawn Fawn.

    Celebrate with Paper Smooches

    Hello and Welcome!

I'm getting into fast gear with creating Christmas cards. And it is just not the start of the holidays without a Paper Smooches gnome Santa card.

This card was inspired by  Paper Smooches' November Challenge mood board. I used the colors along with the leaves (substituted snowflakes) and the pink gift pictures. The gifts in this card are from Paper Smooches' Hullabaloo stamps set. The tiny golden stars are from Simon Says Stamps' Stacked Stars die cut.

Jerome the Gnome, from Paper Smooches' Forest Whimsy stamp set, is such a versatile little guy. Color his hat red - Santa. Green - a gnome. And (a big favorite with my guys) brown - a dwarf. And speaking of versatile, Paper Smooches' Celebrate Word Die (which here was cut 3x and coated with Glossy Accents) can be used for so many occasions too!

    Hello and Welcome!

This summer we vacationed in Nashville, Tennessee. One of the highlights was visiting their capitol and walking through Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. The grounds are beautiful with many interesting things to explore.

With so many photos, I toned down the papers and embellishments. The papers are by Simple Stories and the embellishments are by October Afternoon. This page is based on a sketch by Sketch N' Scrap.
