Beautiful Gold Embossed Card

Hello and Welcome!

I currently do not own any floral stamps by Winnie & Walter (gotta change that!), but I still wanted to enter Lydia's Floral Challenge, along with Mayuri's Inlaid Challenge and Heather's Golden Watercolor Challenge at Winnie & Walter's 2nd Belated Birthday Celebration. It has been so much fun this month!! There are 10 different challenges and still time for you to enter.

Here is my card in all of its springtime glory:

I used the Hero Arts Watercolor Daisy stamp. As the flowers are the negative space, I stamped it in Versamark and added gold embossing powder for the background. The flowers are colored with Zig Clean Color markers and waterbrush. This floral panel along with black cardstock were die-cut with Memory Box's Jasmine Frame (saving all those tiny boarder pieces). I glued all the frame to white cardstock and inlaid the floral pieces.

Next I stamped the Winnie & Walter sentiment (from The Big, The Bold and The Seasons) and, for a stitching boarder detail, the white panel was die-cut from Simon Say Stamps Bundle of Stitched Shapes. To finish it off I added Hero Arts gems.

Golden Heart Love Card

Hello and Welcome!

I am loving this trend of mixing gold and watercolors. Everything just pops. So when I saw Heather's Challenge over at Winnie & Walter's 2nd Birthday Bash, I wanted to do backflips! Here is the card I will be sharing with my husband on our upcoming anniversary:

The beautiful Winnie & Walter "LOVE" stamp (from The Big, The Bold, and The Happy) was stamped on vellum with Versamark, heat embossed with Ranger black embossing powder and fussy cut. I heat embossed it to give it a glossy, liquid feel and still keep the delicate look. The background was created by smooching Cherry Red Color Shine on watercolor paper. I did this several times, letting the watercolor dry in between, to add intensity and depth. Next, using a large heart stencil as a guide, I drizzled gold Stickles. After it dried, the W&W Love sentiment was added. The final step was stamping the rest of the sentiment. I love how W&W words all work together between stamp sets. I did not have the word "forever," so I took the "ever" from W&W's The Big, The Bold and The Seasons stamp set and pushed it up against the "for" from The Happy set!

This card is entered in:
  •  Winnie & Walter's 2nd Birthday Bash

Hope you get a chance to make something beautiful and join in the at W&W's Birthday Bash.

Rainbow Spring Card

Hello and Welcome!

I am so ready for Spring. Snow and winter is pretty in December, but after bundling-up every day and shoveling, it's time for flowers, color and warm! This, along with the fun Winnie & Walter  2nd Birthday Bash Celebration Challenges, was the inspiration for my card:

The fonts used in Winnie & Walter's products are so AMAZING, I wanted to showcase them. So this card only uses Winnie & Walter's The Big, The Bold & The Seasons stamps  and inks - Distress (colors), Simon Says Stamps (slate)  & Versafine (black). I also added Pretty Pink Posh sequins. This card turned out so pretty.

This card is entered in Winnie & Walter's 2nd Birthday Bash:

Thanks for stopping! And if you try creating an all font card, I'd love to hear about it. Leave me a comment.

Aaron's Birthday Layout

Hello and Welcome!

This page has been a fun adventure of wandering through blogland, picking up fun tidbits and incorporating them into this layout:

I started with Scrap Our Stash's Dr. Suess inspiration photo. Using Color Shine Cherry Red & Ocean, I splatter them around the paper like the book cover. Thinking this looked like confetti, this photo of Aaron's recent birthday came to mind.

Having seen several layouts layering scraps of pattern paper around the photo (and seeing the Quick Quotes challenge), I decided to give it a try. I was surprised at how well this technique draws the eye to the photo and adds interest to the page. (Definitely going to do this again!) The black paper scraps are upcycled pieces of wrapping paper from the gift in the photo.

At this point I needed a good design to ground the photo and pull things together. I turned to Let's Get Sketchy and found the perfect sketch. Per the design, I blended Broken China Distress Ink with Heidi Swapp's triangle stencil and added black rub-on stitching for the vertical line. Then October Afternoon washi tape for the horizontal lines. As I needed a place for journaling, I did add a cluster in the top corner, that repeated the items in the main design.

I love using stamps on my layouts, and My Favorite Things "Celebrate Big" stamp set was exactly the look I was going for. It is stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Ranger Clear powder. Also, I really like their current color combo and used it as a guide for this page.

To finish things off, I added glittery stars and hearts cut from Simon Says Stamps Large Holiday Shapes die-cuts.

Coffee Love Card

Hello and Welcome!

This card was a joy to create as it involves 2 things I love. One is coffee, and as I just got this new coffee cup die by Taylored Expressions, it just had to be used. Second is Poochie puppy by The Cat's Pajamas stamps (First Christmas set). He is so darn cute, I think I could use him on every card. The card is based on a sketch at Share the Joy.

The Cat's Pajamas Poochie stamp was colored with copic markers and fussy cut. The hearts are die-cut using Simon Says Stamp's Large Holiday Shapes and cut from DCWV red glitter paper. The sun is by My Favorite Things and the sentiment is from Freckled Fawn.

Beautiful Life Card

Hello and Welcome!

This card was inspired by Ellen Hutson's Mix It Up Challenge where you use both Ellen's Essentials and Penny Black stamps. I was also inspired by the colors in Cupcake Inspirations yummy looking photo, the pretty flowers in Verve Stamps challenge photo. Here is what I came up with:

Using Tim Holtz watercolor paper & Ellen's "Bokeh Dots" stamp set (sun), I stamped and heat embossed the scribbled circle and then colored it with Zig Clean Color markers. The flowers are from Penny Black's "Petal Party" stamp set, and were stamped, heat embossed with gold, and colored with Zig markers. To finish it off, the Penny Black sentiment was also stamped & heat embossed.

This card came together really fast. I love the way the Zig colors blend so easily together.

Birthday Card

Hello and Welcome!

For today's project I wanted to just let go, have fun and join in at Winnie & Walter's 2nd Birthday Bash Color Challenge. I also wanted to justify to myself the need of the gallons of Color Shine sprays. So here is what I came up with:

I masked off an area for the sentiment. Then using a splatter brush, I dipped and splatter each of the Winnie & Walter challenge colors with Heidi Swapp's Color Shine (I do love this stuff). Using Winnie & Walter's "The Big, The Bold and The Happy" stamp set (one of my all time favorite sets), I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. To finish it off I added some Simon Says Stamp sequins. This card came together very quickly and it was so much fun!

Super Moon Layout

Hello and Welcome!

I've been wanting to scrap these photos for a while, but needed some inspiration. That extra spark came with Devra's layout and this month's Stuck?! sketch. Here are my fun photos of the Super Moon:

I used We'R, Heidi Swapp & October Afternoon pattern papers, Thickers, older star brads and sequins (which I put in the title letters).

Love Inlaid Card

Hello and Welcome!

There are so many fun events going on in paper crafting this month! Today I found out Papertrey Ink (PTI) is celebrating their 9th anniversary! Wow, congrats PTI!!! They are celebrating with a new challenge every day between Feb. 5 - 14th over at Nicole Heady's blog (link below). They are also doing a huge release. Go check it out!

One PTI challenge is to take a piece of clothing and use that as inspiration for your project. (This is to celebrate their release of paper doll fashions - clever.) So here is my card and the sweater that inspired it:

I created the red ombre background by blending Distress inks (Barn Door, Festive Berries & Worn Lipstick) - lately I've been using Copic markers, but this time I switched it up! Then I die cut Papertrey Ink's Wet Paint Cuts "love" word out of it 3 time, along with 1 Simon Says Stamp heart ("Large Holiday Shapes"). I also cut it with Wplus9's "Sunshine Layers" scallop die frame. This red panel was adhered to a black note card. Then I inlaid black PTI's die cut "love" with those teeny tiny red pieces from the letter loops. On a white SSS die cut heart, I stamped "love you" with Winnie & Walter's set "The Big, The Bold and The Happy" and inlaid that as well, working the washi tape under it. To finish it all off, I added some shimmer with Pretty Pink Posh clear sequins.

Valentine Shaker Card

Hello and Welcome!

Winnie & Walter is celebrating their 2nd birthday this month and they have 10 challenges! W&W sure know how to party! I was super inspired by Taheerah's inspiration photo (see below) to create this fun Valentine's Day shaker card:

I used Winnie & Walter's stamp set "The Big, The Bold and The Happy" to create the sentiment, which is heat embossed with Stampendous white embossing powder. I went over the "happy" with a Versamark pen and heat embossed it a second time to punch up the white. I added a heart gem which I colored with a Copic marker. The shaker bits are Stampendous Fragments in neon pink & orange with Pretty Pink Posh 4mm clear sequins and pink microbeads. I was also inspired by the fun hearts and colors in the mood photo at Sparkle & Shine (see below).

My son has already called dibs on this card for his girlfriend. So I'll have to create another card for my sweet husband.

Happy Groundhog's Day Card

Hello and Welcome!

I couldn't resist making a groundhog's day card using the adorable photo inspiration at Paper Smooches. (See below). It reminded me of the "cute and fun" critter from Paper Smooches "Great Chemistry."  Can you guess which of these 3 groundhogs is predicting an early "spring"?:) So here are my trio of fun loving groundhogs:

The sentiment is a combination of masked words from Paper Smooches "Hullabaloo" set and white letter stickers. And the frame is PS's Quote Tag wise die. I colored the ground and groundhogs with copic markers. To finish things off I added 3 metal springs around the sentiment to mimic the springing groundhog.

UPDATE: Head on over to Paper Smooches the blog the last weekend in February as they are having a fabulous PS Blog Hop!
