Dad's Day Layout

Hello and Welcome!

Jeff is such a great dad and it was so much fun celebrating him on his special day.

All of the pattern papers (Off The Wall collection), acetate background (Attitude collection) and diecuts (Off The Wall Collectables) are by Kaisercraft. The gold stars were diecut from Simon Say Stamp's Large Holiday Shapes. The letter stickers are also by Kaisercraft. I added metal hearts from my stash.

Big Smile Layout

Hello and Welcome!

After almost 3 years, Aaron finally got his braces off. And just look at that gorgeous smile. All of this just before his first day of High School. Check out the before and after photos:

This layout is based on a sketch from Grand Diva's Scrappy Place. I used Echo Park's Party Time pattern papers and Sizzix dies for the tags. I finished off this layout with silver thread (which mimics the braces), October Afternoon flair buttons, and Elle's Studio letter stickers.

Warm Wishes Coffee Card

Hello and Welcome!

I am so excited to try out my new Neat And Tangle Warm Wishes stamp along with my new Nordic Holiday embossing folder from Taylored Expressions. They work so well together and I thought they would make a great Christmas card. Here is my card:

The Neat And Tangled cup is heat embossed and colored with Zig Clean Colored markers & water brushed. Love how these markers blend. You can really get some great depth. The snowflakes were colored by blending Mermaid Lagoon, Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks together. The circle frames were cut 3 times and stacked to add dimension, then attached to the embossed background.

I colored the right edge of the card by heat embossing with Ranger's Princess gold embossing powder. To finish off this card I added gold thread and clear sequins.

Summer Yet? Card

Hello and Welcome!

Fall is definitely in the air here in Minnesota. I have started wearing sweaters and the shorts are heading into storage. Oh, how I miss those long sunny days. Here is a card that seems to capture my feelings:

The cat stamp is from The Cat's Pajamas' Official Grinch stamp set. I paper pieced the sweater. The leaves are from Papertrey Ink's Delightful Dahlia set and were heat embossed and colored with Zig Clean Color markers. The sentiment is by Sweet n' Sassy stamps. I finished this card off with ribbon and espresso sequins from Kat Scrappiness.

B&W Halloween Card

Hello and Welcome!

I was inspired by Poppy Stamps to create a card using only black and white. I love bright colors so this was a real challenge. After playing around with a few of my Poppy dies, here is what I came up with:

I had a leftover background stamped with Verve's beautiful new Autumn Blessings flower from an earlier project sitting on my desk. When I saw it together with the Poppy's Halloween Circle die, I did a little happy dance. With a little vellum, a few sequins and Poppy's Elegant Mask die, this card came together wonderfully.

So much great color in this inspiration photo, but for this card
I looked to the more black & white area toward the bottom.

Candy Shaker Card

Hello and Welcome!

I just got this fabulous shaker kit by Jillibean Soup. It makes creating a shaker card so easy! You get the pre-cut card and the shaker bubble, so all you need to do is stamp, fill up the shaker and stick. With Halloween coming, I thought it would be fun to add candy to the shaker - my kids are loving this idea too! Here is the card:

I did a couple of techniques for which I included some details. The stars are Simon Says Stamps Large Holiday Shapes and were heat embossed with Ranger's Princess Gold powder over a Bobunny background stamp. I also added Ranger's Liquid Enamel dots. The lower sentiment is Stampendous' Life Words stamp over pumpkins from Verve's Everything Nice stamp set which were colored with Zig Clean Color markers. The pattern paper is Jillibean Soup's Mushroom Medley with washi tape on top.

Behind the candy, the moon was created with Ellen Hutson's Bokeh Dots stamp and, using the resist method, stamped with Versamark & white embossing powder then blended with Distress Inks. Then the Verve's Everything Nice sentiment stamp was added with Versafine black ink.

Ghost Treat Bag Card

Hello and Welcome!

I love this fun quote by Stampendous and thought it would be perfect to go with my Halloween cards. The tiny ghost treat bag is a die a decade old by Quickutz (back when you used a big hand pressed clamp wrench thingy - anybody remember those?). Makes me appreciate my Big Shot. Here is the card:

The black swirls are Add A Flourish and Tiny Things with Wings dies by Cheery Lynn. The background was made with Heidi Swapp's metallic black letter press paint and a Winnie & Walter stencil. I finished off this design with sequins and cheese cloth.

Fab 4 Layout

Hello and Welcome!

Eri's "Get Inspired" challenge at Pinkfresh Studio is to start with "something" and let the page evolve from there. I love the 6x6 Life Noted "Awesome" paper and wanted to pair it with a family photo. Here is the result:

It was a lot of fun just letting pieces fit together. I used Pinkfresh's Life Noted pattern papers, acetate, washi, rubber charms and chipboard. To add some solid color, I heat embossed Ellen Hutson's Bokeh Dots and, using the resist method, blended several Distress Inks to get the blue-green background. The colors were inspired by Verve. The leafy flourishes are diecuts by Cheery Lynn.

TCP Coffee Card

Hello and Welcome!

Today's feature is a smooth blend of caffeinated colors and techniques:

The dog is Poochie from The Cat's Pajama's Official Grinch stamp set. He is sporting a fashionable sweater which was fussy cut from pattern paper. His coffee cup was masked from a stack of cups and colored with Tombow markers and a red Glaze pen. The sentiment is also from The Cat's Pajama's set. The background was created using stamps from The Sweet Stamp Shop and heat embossed with Zing Copper powder. Then, using the resist method, I blended in several brown Distress Inks.

This card was CASEd from Cristina's card at Coffee Loving Cardmakers (see below).

Peace On Earth Card

Hello and Welcome!

I was at a robotics tournament all day yesterday and going through crafting withdrawals. So I managed to sneak in this card before going to the gym today:

The sentiment and bird images were masked and heat embossed, then using several colors of Zig Clean Color markers I watercolored the background with the resist method. The yellow circle frame was made with Ellen Hutson's Bokeh Dots stamps which were heat embossed, and Squeezed Lemonade & Mustard Seed Distress Inks were blended on top. The background paper is Pinkfresh Studio's Life Noted. This card was finished off with some twine.

June's Birthday Fun Page

Hello and Welcome!

Nothing better than celebrating my birthday with my family! Here is the page commemorating this event:

This page came together in no time, using the sketch on Elle's Studio blog and the papers from Elle's Studio's Little Moments and Everyday Moments collections as well at their Shine Puffy Stickers. Using Cheery Lynn's Add A Flourish and Winnie & Walter's birthday diecuts really kicked this project up a notch.

Happy Halloween Spooky Card

Hello and Welcome!

Last card tonight and it is a doozy! I went all out with color and techniques. Check it out!

The background was created with Busho pigments and Winnie & Walter's Leaf Effects stencil on watercolor paper. This is so fun. The frame is Memory Box's Jasmine Frame to which I adhered vellum, added sequins and glued everything to the watercolored panel. The cat & pumpkins, by Inkadinkado, were colored with Zig Clean Color markers and fussy then pop dotted. The sentiment is heat embossed with Stampendeous white powder. This card is based on a sketch at Mojo Monday.

This card is entered in:
  • The WCMD Pick 'n Mix challenge at Winnie & Walter (I used black, merlot, rust, heather, and lawn colors along with a shaker technique filled with sequins to make this masculine Halloween card.)

Boo To You Card

Hello and Welcome!

I'm on a roll with my Halloween cards. So much fun. Check out the spiderwebs.

I really stretched my Winnie & Walter Sparkler stamps by turning them into spider webs.
The background papers are by Pebbles and the sentiment & tag are by Doodlebug. The green circles are Simon Says Stamp's Circle Loop diecuts. The black vines are Verve diecuts. I also added Ranger's liquid enamel dots. This card is based on a sketch at Simon Says Stamp's Flickr challenge site.

Happy Haunting Card

Hello and Welcome!

It's time to get my Halloween cards done for family and friends. Halloween cards are some of my favorite to make as you can go a little wild.

I used Pebbles papers for the background and Doodlebug diecuts. To finish things off I added gems, ribbon, gold thread and cheese cloth. This card is based on a sketch at Mojo Monday.

Rainbow Mask Card

Hello and Welcome!

I've been looking for forward to creating something with my new Elegant Mask Diecut by Poppy Stamps. Winnie & Walter's WCMD rainbow challenge along with Simon Say Stamp's Halloween challenges seemed to be the perfect opportunity.

I cut the Mask from rainbow colored cardstock and staggered them so they fit the card. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter's The Big, The Bold and The Happy stamp set and was heat embossed with Stampendous white powder on black cardstock, and popped with 3L foam squares for added dimension. To finish it off, sequins were added to the masks as eyes.

Hexagon Thanks

Hello and Welcome!

I am plugging away at all of the fun challenges at Winnie & Walter's WCMD celebration.

My goal is to make a different card for each of the ten contests. This is card number 6.

I used Winnie & Walter's Thanks Cutaway, Pinkfresh Life Noted pattern papers and a Fiskars Hexagon punch. Some of the shapes are recessed  and some are not. I finished off this card with gold thread and sequins.

This card is entered in:
  • The WCMD Pick 'n Mix Challenge at Winnie & Walter
    •  I used white, aqua, lawn, poppy & mustard, and die cutting, sequins, and patterns

PS Celebrate card

Hello and Welcome!

This card was pinspired (is this a word?) by the beautiful wedding cake pictured on Heather H.'s WCMD challenge at Winnie & Walter. Here is my take:

I used Winnie & Walter's Celebrate Cutaway and layered it in 3 different colors. The cake stamp is by PaperSmooches (this set has fun tiny stamps to decorate your cake with). The background was made with Simon Says Stamp's Falling Stars stencil with Heidi Swapp's gold paint. The pattern paper is DCWV. I finished off this card with gold thread and sequins.

This card is entered in:

  • The WCMD Pick 'n Mix Challenge at Winnie & Walter
    • I used white, mustard, lawn & woodland, and die cutting, gold and cute
  • The WCMD Stretch Your Stamps Challenge at Winnie & Walter - the cake decorations on my card are actually taken from a necklace stamp and a flower bouquet stamp

W&W Thankful Card

Hello and Welcome!

This was a super fun card to make! I used Busho Pigments and a stencil again. The ooooo factor when I add water just never gets old.

For this card, I first used Winnie & Walter's Leaf Effect stencil to make a separate card by adding Bushos and water, then flipped the stencil onto another piece of watercolor paper to get the negative image (i.e. the white leaves) to make this card. I am CASEing the same card Lydia used as inspiration for her challenge (see link below), but instead of adding white leaves, I added colored leaves that were fussy cut from my first card. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter's Happiest Of Holidays which was heat embossed with Zing gold powder on vellum. I finished it off with a gold mat, gold thread and colorful sequins.

This card is entered in:

  • The WCMD Pick 'n Mix Challenge at Winnie & Walter
    • I used white, merlot, lawn, rust & poppy, and  fussy cutting, gold, and masculine

Foxy Warm Wishes

Hello and Welcome!

Here in Minnesota the weather has been unusually warm - in the 70's - but that is all changing this weekend with possible frost by Friday! Well, it is October. So with the chilly temperatures coming, thought I'd send a friend some warm wishes:

The background was created with Winnie & Walter's Leaf Effect stencil and Brusho pigments on watercolor paper. This is so much fun - sprinkle, spray, and magic happens. (This was so much fun, I made another 4 backgrounds!) It was then cut with Simon Says Stamp's Bundle of Stitched Shapes rectangle frame. The fox was fussy cut from Jillibean Soup's Mushroom Medley paper. The birch tress are from the same paper. The stripe paper is Jillibean's Pasta Fagioli. The sentiment is Winnie & Walter's The Big, The Bold and the Party Cutaway. The swirls are Cheery Lynn's Add A Flourish along with Wheat Heads and Tiny Things With Wings. This card is based on a sketch on the Jillibean Soup blog.

This card is entered in:

Welcome Autumn Bird Card

Hello and Welcome!

I'm still working on WCMD challenges. There are several great sites offering a lot of fun ideas and inspiration for our kinda celebration.

World_CardMaking_Day_Jillibean_Soup_2016

Today I brought out one of my favorite fall stamps. I was inspired by W&W's Heather P.'s color and Jillibean Soup's tag challenges. Check it out:

I started by using the smooshing technique with Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks on watercolor paper (masking the area were the bird would go). The cute bird and branch are Winnie & Walter's Happiest Of Holidays stamps which were heat embossed with clear powder and colored with Zig Clean Color markers. The sentiment is Winnie & Walter's The Big, the Bold and the Seasons Cutaway which was pressed into Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger's Princess Gold powder. The tiny leaves and "welcome" come from W&W's matching stamp set. The pattern papers are Jillibean Soup's Mushroom Medley. This card is based on a sketch at Mojo Monday.

This card is entered in:

  • Winnie & Walter's WCMD 2016 Pick 'n Mix Challenge
    • I used kraft, aqua, lawn & rust, and die cutting, watercolor & cute

I Like Playing Card

Hello and Welcome!

I just adore the cute kitties on Jillibean Soup's papers and wanted to make a card with them. Here is what I came up with:

The pattern papers are by Jillibean Soup from their Fur Fusion Soup and Pasta Fagioli collections. The cats were fussy cut from Jillibean's Cat Chow paper.  To finish off this card I added clear sequins.
