Celebrate Together

Hello and welcome! Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday.

Our Thanksgiving tradition is for everyone to make a favorite dish to share. I thought it would be a good keepsake to create a page that included the recipes we used and photos of this occasion.

Most of the page is pretty simple, keeping the focus on the photo and recipes. I used Sonata and Windsong papers and quotes.

To make the recipe mini album:
  • cut five 6" x 3.5" rectangles from Windsong 102
  • attach each rectangle to the page with washi tape on left side, spacing each card an inch apart
  •  cut one 6" x 3.5" rectangle from Sonta 100
    • die cut the center to make a frame
    • attach to the top of the first Windsong rectangle
    • add title and embellishments
  • add recipe cards and photos
  • attach tabs

All of the pictures were printed with my Canon Selphy photo printer. The photos in the recipe album are mini prints. If you want a tutorial of how to make them, you can find it here.

Still Falling For You

Hello and welcome!

My husband, Jeff, and I went on a romantic weekend to Red Wing, MN and climbed the bluffs. The views are spectacular!

I designed this page for Scrap Our Stash and it is up on their blog today. I used the SOS sketch and word challenge. For this layout I stayed pretty close to the sketch and for the word challenge I used:
T - twine, Tim Holtz label
H - hearts
A - arrow
N - Nestabilities frame die
K - kraft
S - squirrel, swirls

I used mostly Carta Bella's Hello Fall pattern papers.

The chipboard leaf boarder is by Quick Quotes.

The cute squirrel and leaf die cuts are by Little B.

Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving and find some fun time to spend with your family,

Layered Powdered Inks

Hello and welcome!

I have a fun and colorful ink stamping technique for you today.

I love playing with Quick Quotes' PowderPuff Chalking Inks. For this card I stamped different colored inks on top of each other for this fabulous variegated look. Perfect for making fall leaves.

It was fun layering the inks and using different combinations of yellow, orange and red PowderPuff Chalking inks to create unique, colorful leaves using the same stamp. I used a stamp positioner (a Misti tool would also work well) and, starting with the lightest, stamped different shades of color on top of each other 3-4 times.

I love the depth and tones this technique creates.

The sentiment was stamped 3 times with PowderPuff Mocha Mama ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I then added gold Color Shine splatters, sequins and ribbon.

To finish off the card, the leaf panel was matted on brown and gold cardstock and then added to the Sonta 100 card base, which was chalked with PowderPuff Mocha Mama ink.

Fall Thanks Card

Hello and Welcome!

I love this time of the year with all the rich colors and yummy textures. I wanted to bring these things into my latest card.

Recently I purchased Paper Smooches Silhouette Flowers diecuts and wanted to use them in this card. It also seemed natural to bring in my favorite Paper Smooches deer from their Happy Camper stamp set. (The deer was watercolored, fussy cut and black gel pen was added to its eyes & nose.) I also slipped in a Paper Smooches Leaves 2 diecut.

The sentiment is Paper Smooches Thanks Word 2 diecut and was cut twice, once in black and once in tan. The black adds a shadow and helps POP the sentiment. Gold washi tape was added to ground all the elements.

To add texture, shine and interest, a wood grain pattern was stamped on dark brown cardstock and heat embossed with WOW's gold embossing powder. The cardstock base was run through a Sizzix embossing folder and a burlap mat was added.

Kitty Christmas Tag

Hello and Welcome!

I am so excited to be joining in fun with Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags. Here is my latest creation.

This tag was inspired by Kristina's tag on day 11 with the fun little bear peeking out of the framed tag.

I used Gerda Steiner's Caroling Cat rubber cling stamp and colored it with Zig Clean Color markers. The sentiment is from Gerda Steiner's Sportsy Santa set. The tag was colored using the smooching technique with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink. The background snowflakes and gift are stamps from The Cat's Pajamas' Bunny Christmas set.

This tag is entered in:
  • The "Snow White" Wednesday challenge at Simon Says Stamp

Creating With Dyan Reaveley!

Hello and Welcome!

I got to take a class with the amazingly talented and crazy designer Dyan Reaveley, creator of Dylusions, this weekend.  It was all about using paint, spray inks, stencils and stamps on pages. The class was creative, messy and full of great techniques, and perfect for this month's SOS tic-tac-toe challenge! What do you think?

Most of the products - paints, spray inks, stencils & stamps - are by Ranger's Dylusions.

One of the great tips I learned was to apply very little paint with a baby wipe. And as Dyan says, "This keeps the background in the background." I also found it kept the paper from wrapping.

This page is up on the Scrap Our Stash blog today. For their tic-tac-toe challenge I used the top row: Plaid-Tab-Brown. So come join in on the fun.

Family Fun with Quick Quotes' Serenade

Hello and Welcome!

I've got a great family project for you today. With the holidays around the corner, it is time to start the preparations.  Creating tags is easy, entertaining and a great way to involve the whole family in a creative project.

I started by die cutting tags and Christmas themed objects from the Quick Quotes Serenade papers. I also set out PowderPuff Chalking inks, ribbon, glue, gems, Stickles and a Christmas stamp set.

Next I got my family together and we started creating. It was so fun watching them dive in and start playing. They even got into edging with the PowderPuff inks!

Of course, I had to join in too!

Here are the finished tags:

Quick Quotes Products:
Serenade: 101, 102, 103, 105
PowderPuff Chalking inks: Green Leaf, Barn Board, Coal Miner, Baja Blue

Other Products:
Memory Box: Stitched Circle Trees die
Lawn Fawn: Circle tag and snowflake dies
The Cat's Pajama's: Poinsettia dies
Taylored Expressions: deer die
My Favorite Things: Trim A Tree Stamp set

Hope you are inspired to create some beautiful tags with your loved ones, and thanks for stopping by.
