FRC World Tournament Layout

Hello and Welcome!

Still can't believe our robotics team made it all the way to World's and made it to the division finals! It was so much fun, chaotic and amazing. Here are a few highlights of this awesome adventure:

When creating this layout, I wanted something special with lots photos. I looked to Scrap Our Stash for their great layout and Kaisercraft for their fabulous masculine papers. Love how many of Kaisercraft's collections work well together. I used papers from the following Kaisercraft collections - Take Note, Base Coat, 75 Cents, Technologic & Rewind - all on this layout. I was inspired by colors and stacked suitcases in Kaiser's mood board.

This layout is based on a sketch by Scrap Our Stash and I used red, quartz and polka dots per the challenge. All the pattern papers are by Kaisercraft and I fussy cut some of my embellishments from their papers as well. I also used Thickers for the title, washi tape, and stamped the date.

First Phone Layout

Hello and Welcome!

Aaron was so excited to get his first cell phone. He bought it and the minutes to use it with his own money. A big step into independence. Here is the page I made about it:

This layout is based on a sketch by Let's Get Sketchy. I used Creative Embellishments great cell phone chipboard frames. PERFECT for this page! The colors on this page were inspired by the beautiful inspirational photo on the Creative Embellishments blog. The pattern papers are So RAD by Simple Stories. I also made some fun embellishments by fussy cutting from these papers. I love the stenciled background as the blue and rounded square pattern really pulled this design together. The stencil is by Heidi Swapp and was blended with Blueprint Sketch Distress ink. The tiny, cute "hello" stamp that is scattered around the page is by Simon Say Stamp from their Music 2 My Ears set. Also used was Pressed Pedals letters (title) and Waffle Flower's "Yippee" die.

Mom's Day Layout

Hello and Welcome!

I have been in love with Fancy Pants "Attwell" collection for quite some time and finally got my hands on it. The papers and colors are so beautiful it was a joy creating this layout of my sons and I on Mother's Day:

I used Fancy Pants "Attwell" 12x12, 6x6 and sticky notes on this layout. The design is based on Brenda Ragsdale's (Grand Diva) sketch (see below). The colors and flowers were inspired by Kelly's mood board. And the Studio Calico wood butterflies were inspired by Rochelle Spear's This or That challenge. The glittery Pressed Petals letters were inspired by Simon Says Stamp's shimmer challenge. I finished off this layout with flowers from my stash and homemade enamel dots.

Waffle Flower Coffee Card

Hello and Welcome!

I love Amy's Coffee Loving blog hops, so much fun. So MANY amazing projects! For the Spring Coffee Lovers hop, I won Waffle Flower's Lotus flower stamp set and really wanted to enter it in the summer hop. Here so here is my entry:

I used Tim Holtz's blueprint coffee mug and masked off the center of the cup. Then I stamped Waffle Flower's Lotus blossom on the mug. Next the mugs were watercolored with Zig Clean Color markers and fussy cut. The design and colors of this card were inspired by the Waffle Flower challenge. I added Waffle Flower's "Yippee!" diecut for the sentiment. I added shimmery Stickles to the steam streams and center of the flowers and mounted it on Fancy Pants' Attwell woodgrain pattern paper.

Tools & Coffee Card

Hello and Welcome!

I am having so much fun with these new stamps by Crackerbox Palace. The toolbox is just the right size and I love the sentiment! Crackerbox has such a great sense of humor. Here is my Father's Day tools & coffee to-go card. As you can see with a few foam squares, I was able to add a coffee gift card.

I stamped the Crackerbox Palace sentiment, toolbox, wrench, hammer & ruler with Versamark ink on colored cardstock and heat embossed them with Ranger clear embossing powder, then fussy cut. I used Taylored Expressions' Coffee To-Go die-cut for the cup. I cut a slit in the toolbox with a craftknife and tucked the tools & cup in and glued them down. The black background is an embossing folder by Darcie. The sentiment was stapled with Tim Holtz' tiny attacher. I placed small 3L foam squares along the sides and bottom of the toolbox, leaving the top open so a gift card can be slipped in behind.

Weekend Warrior Father's Day Card

Hello and Welcome!

When I saw the Swiss Army Knife die-cut & stamp set by Art Impressions, it went on the top of my gotta have list! It is so clever and with handymen - like my husband & father-in-law - around, it's the prefect addiction (oops, I mean addition) to my crafting collection. Lucky for me my local crafting shop, Crafter's Haven, had it and I snagged it.

I really wanted to pair this die with Art Impression's Weekend Warrior stamp. And with Father's Day coming up it was the ideal opportunity! Here is one of my all-time favorite cards:

The guy is colored with Copic markers, fussy cut and popped dotted. The sentiments are stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Stampendous (white) & Ranger (black) embossing powders. And it is hard to tell from the photo, but the tools are die-cut from shimmery silver metallic paper.

Sunday Morning Layout

Hello and Welcome!

I was miffed at my husband for taking these photos of me first thing in the morning - no makeup and in sweat pants (the REAL us) - but now I'm really glad. They show the "us" before we've made all the adjustment to fit into the outside world. And being snuggly, comfortable readers, well that's us. So here we are - in all our early morning glory:

The October Afternoon's Saturday Morning collection was perfect for this layout. The papers, stickers, chipboard and brads are by OA. I also added letters by SEI and Thickers. The cute kitties are stamps by Sweet Stamps which I fussy cut. I finished things off with gold doilies and machine stitching. This layout is based on a sketch by Let's Get Sketchy.

W&W Thanks Card

Hello and Welcome!

The Gossip Column is back on the Winnie & Walter blog. I agree with Taheerah that bright colors are really in now. Here is my take on using rainbow colors as a design element:

I used Winnie & Walter's Leaf Effects stencil with blended Distress Inks for the the background. The sentiment is Winnie & Walter's "thanks" Cutaway. I think black really works as a great contrast to pop the bright colors. One thing I really enjoy about ordering from W&W is that Shay includes a packet of sequins with your order (so fun). The sequins are from one of those tiny envelopes from my recent order. I also added Viva Ice dimensional paint on and next to each of the sequins to add more interest and texture. The butterfly is a die-cut from Cheery Lynn (also used the angel wings) and the blue wings were colored with Zig Clean Color markers.

50th Anniversary Card

Hello and Welcome!

My mother-in-law wanted me to make her 50th Anniversary invitations. She asked for orange flowers with a big 50 in the center of a circle. Here is what I came up with:

I used Verve Stamps' "Surely Goodness" flower set. I colored the flowers with Zig Clean Color markers on watercolor paper. I used a Lifestyle die-cut for the numbers. The colors were inspired by the mood photo on Verve's blog.

You're A Star Dad's Day Card

Hello and Welcome!

I wanted to make a fun Father's Day card for my handyguy and use the fun Weekend Warrior image from Art Impressions. As my fabulous husband did just build me 9 floor-to-ceiling shelves for my crafting hobby, I really do think of him as a super star. Here is his card (no peeking until after Father's Day Jeff!):

I colored the Art Impressions' Weekend Warrior stamp with Copic markers and fussy cut. I used lots of layers with the dotted embossed black background made with a Sizzix folder attached to DCWV gold glitter paper. I then stapled the Tim Holtz film strips. On top of that I placed the Cas-ual Friday gold star die-cut and The Cat's Pajama's sentiment banner. To top it off I added my Ai "Warrior" with pop dots.
