Hello

Hello and welcome!

I am always in need of some "all purpose" cards. With the "hello" sentiment, this card can be used for everything from a thank you to a wedding!

This card uses products from Altenew. The background was created with Altenew's Stone Wall Stencil and embossing paste.

The flower and butterfly are from Altenew's Wild Hibiscus stamp set and colored with Altenew's Tropical Feista Watercolor Brush Markers. The sentiment is Altenew's Fancy Hello Die.

Celebrate Mom's Day

Hello and welcome!

I always love it when the whole family gets together. Ty and Shara had a Game of Thrones party to attend, so we had a nice Mother's Day brunch beforehand. Jeff made amazing waffles with several types of fruit toppings. Yum!!!

This page features Altenew's Wild Hibiscus flower stamps, which were colored with watercolors and allowed to drip.

The background pattern paper, wooden flair buttons, and acetate frame are all part of Altenew's Reflection Collection.

This layout is based on a sketch from Scrap Our Stash.

Prom Photo Shoot

Hello and welcome!

Before the big night of prom, we did a photo shoot at a park in Edina with Aaron and his friend, Amalie, in all their finery.

This page uses mostly Kaisercraft products from their Fleur and Summer Splash collections. Love how Kaiser's different lines work so well together! I also like the cute little frame around the title. Kaiser's Vine Wood Flourishes were also used. To finish off the page, gems and twine bows were added.

Balloon Bunny

Hello and welcome!

With graduation coming, I am on the hunt for fun ideas for cards. Check this one out:

I had seen this Pull Tab video by Jennifer McGuire and thought I'd put my own twist on it using the fun stamps by The Cat's Pajamas.

The stamp set is TCP's Bunnies In Flight. I love that the sentiment works so well for a grad card. I used a handmade cloud stencil and blue distress oxide inks for the background.

Prom Night

Hello and welcome!

My son took his friend, Amalie, to their high school prom. They had an amazing time all dressed up and having photos taken at the park. Then we drove them to Benihana's for dinner and they danced the night away at the VIP room at the Viking's football stadium.

I used Reminisce and Bobunny pattern papers for this page. The large chipboard letters have been in my stash for a decade, but work so well with this layout! The cute little birds are die cuts by Poppy Stamps. This page is based on a the right side sketch from Scrap Our Stash and includes a tag.

Congrats Grad Card

Hello and welcome!
My son is a high school senior this year, so I am trying to make a bunch of grad cards for his friends.

Bee Strong

Hello and welcome!

Crafty Milka is doing a blog hop in support of bees. As this is a cause near and dear to my heart, I thought I would join in.

Several stamping companies are supporting this bee hop with prizes, so I wanted to support them by using some of their products to make this card. The cute bee is a stamp by Gerda Steiner Designs called Bee Strong. It was colored with watercolor brush markers. The pretty plaid pattern paper is by Lawn Fawn. To finish off the card, Pretty Pink Posh clear sequins were added, along with gold thread and glitter glue on the bee's wings.

Party Bears

Hello and welcome!

Jennifer McGuire did a great technique video called Watercolor Swiping. It was so easy to make the rainbow background using this method, and fun, too!

After creating the rainbow background, I splattered it with gold, white and black Color Shine so it looked like confetti. Then, using My Favorite Things's card sketch from their blog as a guide, I die cut circles, backed them with white cardstock and stamped the adorable MFT's Bitty Bears Stamps.

The bears are colored with Zig watercolor brush markers. The white heat embossed sentiment is also from this set.

Smile

Hello and welcome!

I love trying new techniques, and Jennifer McGuire has an amazing one called Watercolor Swiping, which is how this colorful background was created. You can see her video here.

For this technique, I used Pink Fresh's Liquid Watercolors on a baby wipe and swiped it across watercolor paper. It turned out beautifully! I did try different papers. Watercolor and Bistrol papers worked wonderfully, but regular inexpensive cardstock didn't blend and warped.

I added Pink Fresh's Circle Frame With Botanicals and Smile Word dies cut from white cardstock. To finish off the card Nuvo Jewel Drops in a variety of colors were added.

Mother's Day Page

Hello and welcome!

Mother's Day is such a special day for me as my guys really spoil me. They know I love flowers and this year they went all out!

This page was created with Jillibean's Souper Celebration collection, including all of the pattern papers, the flower Pea Pods and puffy stickers. The tag in the upper corner was created with a stamp from Jillibean Soup's Coffee and Dounuts set.

Recently I received a Scan N Cut machine (thank you Treasure!!!) and I am just now learning how to use it. Jillibean Soup has a bunch of cute and free cut files, so I decided to try it out. And it worked!!! Check out the title! I am very technologically challenged, but this worked slick!

This layout is based on a sketch on Rochelle Spears blog and the pink flowers were inspired by a mood board on Stacy's blog.

Aaron's Band Concerts

Hello and welcome!

Aaron loves playing his trumpet and is in several band groups. He does lots of concerts during the year, so I made this page with a pocket to hold all of the programs. Here it is:

I used Elle's Studio Shine pattern papers and machine stitched 3 sides. Love the thick, quality papers by Elle's Studio as they stand up to the repeated use of the pocket. The teal alphabet letters and stars are puffy stickers, also by Elle's Studio.

Coffee and Doughnuts

Hello and welcome!

My son's favorite place to go for a little celebrations is a place called YoYo's, which is a coffee and doughnut shop. I get the coffee and he gets the doughnuts. That was the inspiration for this card.

I used Jillibean Soup's Souper Celebration pattern paper along with their Coffee & Donuts stamp set. The sentiment is by Altenew.

Spring Blizzard

Hello and welcome!

It was a brutal winter this year in Minnesota. Record cold days and record snow falls. The kids missed 5 days of school, the most ever. And just as we got a break and the mountains (literally) of snow were melting, with just just 3 weeks to go until spring, this happened:

The good news is now it is May and all the snow is gone! So it is time to finish scrapping this winter. I used a lot of fun products and techniques on this layout. The snowflakes above the title were embossed with Deco Foil Metallix Gel in silver with Memory Box's Winter Snowflakes stencil.

I added a multiple of colors of Deco Foil Transfer Sheet to Creative Embellishment's chipboard snowflakes with Thermoweb's Sticky Dot Adhesive (no heat needed!) for some fun color, sparkle and hints of the spring to come.

The title letters are Thickers attached with Sticky Dot Adhesive sheet (I love this stuff!). The decorative red border is a stamp from Gina K's Season's Greetings set and embossed with red embossing powder. The cute winged penguin is a stamp by The Cat's Pajamas.

This layout is based on a sketch from the Thermoweb blog celebrating National Scrapbook Day. The penguin and colorful chipboard snowflakes were inspired by the mood photo at Creative Embellishments.

First Crush

Hello and welcome!

My son is smitten with his first girlfriend. While setting up for an Easter family photo, my husband managed to snap this sweet moment.

For this wonderful photo I wanted to use some of my favorite papers, Pinkfresh Studio's Indigo Hills 2 with matching Puffy Stickers.. The colors and designs work so well with this photo. Some fun stamping was added with Pinkfresh's Life Noted and Live More stamp sets. The title was created with the Puffy Alpha Stickers from the Life Noted collection. I was also inspired by Flora Farkas' wreath design layout on the Pinkfresh Blog.

The flowers were cut from Simon Says Stamps' Spiral Flower die and a metallic gold center was added for some sparkle.

Coloring Easter Eggs

Hello and welcome!

Happy InterNational Scrapbook Day!!! I am working on projects like mad today. Here is my first layout. It shows my sons with their girlfriends coloring Easter eggs. We all had so much fun together, but I'm not sure what I am going to do with 4 dozen hard boiled eggs!

This page uses Jilllibean Soup's Shades Of Color Soup collection. The bright paint splattered papers are perfect for these photos. The strips on the side, stitching, flowers and large title were inspired by Nicole Nowosad's layout on the Jillibean Soup blog.

The pretty flowers and butterflies are Poppy Stamp's Stitched Bloom Trio and Stitched Fluttering Butterflies die cuts. Love the embossed stitching detail on these dies. The journaling is layered on 2 strips of washi tape.

Floral Coffee Birthday Card

Hello and welcome!

As I finish a layout there is usually extra paper and embellishments, so I like to make cards with them. Here is a birthday card I created doing just that:

For this card I used Jillibean Soup's Shades Of Color Soup pattern papers. The flowers and butterflies are Poppy Stamps' Stitched Bloom Trio and Stitched Fluttering Butterflies die cuts. The sentiment is by Hero Arts and the wooden coffee cups are by Recollections. This card is based on sketch #60 (Oct. 2015) from Sketch N Scrap.

Celebrate Shaker Card!

Hello and welcome!

Lots of birthdays coming up at our house, so I thought it would be fun to make a shaker!

Shaker cards are so easy with Jillibean Soup Shaker Card kits. The cards come pre-cut for the shaped plastic sequin holders. You can also get a wide variety of sequins and stamps that match!

For this card a star stencil was used with yellow Distress Oxide Inks on Jillibean pre-cut cardstock. The Jillibean Star shaker was filled with multi-colored Jillibean sequins and added to the card then backed with black cardstock. Lastly a sentiment was added. Easy-peasy with a fun and fabulous look!
This card is based on Sketch N Scrap's Card Sketch #142.
