Kitty Helper Layout

Hello and Welcome!

It is so fun reliving some of the great memories from Christmas. Here are some shots of our cat, Snazzy, "helping" me wrap gifts.

I used a variety of older Christmas papers and embellishments. The photos were printed using my Canon Selphy photo printer. This layout came together really fast using Brenda's and Rochelle's sketch and inspiration.

Starry Santa card

Hello and Welcome!

I love playing with all my fun Christmas products. So even though Christmas is over, I decided to keep making cards and get a jump start on next year! Here is a fun Santa card:

I love the My Favorite Things Starry Circle diecut, as it makes a great background. And this fun-loving Santa from MFT's Jingle All The Way stamp set is one of my favorites. I colored him with Zig watercolor markers. The sentiment is from MFT's Trim A Tree stamp set.

White Christmas card

Hello and Welcome!

We deliver homemade goodies with handmade cards to all our neighbors each Christmas Eve. Here is one of the cards I created to go with our treats.

I used CAS-ual Fri-die's nested Stars & Buble Clouds die cuts. The sentiment is from CAS-ual Friday's Pinecones stamp set and is embossed with WOW's silver embossing powder. A Sizzix snow embossing folder was used for the background. I love how pretty this card turned out and how fast it came together.

Happy Holidays!

Hello, Welcome and Merry Christmas Eve! Thanks for stopping over to celebrate with me!

Our family's Christmas kick-off is our annual trip to the Albert and Santa show. We have been doing this for 14 years now - and it is just as magical!

Here are a few detailed shots of the page.

This page, made with Quick Quotes Serenade papers, is based on a sketch from Scrap Our Stash. I am up on their site today.

This layout follows their sketch pretty closely, except I replaced the background triangle with a circle to soften the lines. For their word challenge, I used:
P - poinsettia flowers
E - enamel element
A - accents in gold
C - chipboard title
E - ephemera

This layout is also entered in:

10 Minute Gift Project with Quick Quotes

Happy Holidays!

Today I am up on the Quick Quotes blog with this post.

Looking for a last minute gift idea you can make at home, or something to keep the kids busy while you wrap gifts? How about making photo ornaments?

Here is a step-by-step on creating these ornaments:

  • Start by printing mini photos on the Canon SELPHY printer

  • Next, using Quick Quotes Winter Bliss collection, die cut (or use an electronic cutting machine) two large ornament shapes for each picture.

  • On one ornament shape punch out an interior circle to make a frame.

  • Using Evergreen or Lipstick PowderPuff Chalking inks, edge the ornaments.  Attach the frame ornament on top of the photo and trim.

  • Glue the framed photo piece to the other ornament shape as a backing and add the date.

  • Embellish with fun holiday items from your stash.

Here are some close-ups of the 4 ornaments I created.

A Very Special Christmas Card

Hello and Welcome!

I created this card as I recently found out my favorite Aunt is spending Christmas in the hospital and I wanted to send her a very special, encouraging Christmas card.

Paper Smooches' "Hang Ups" stamp set was perfect! It has the Christmas themed elements (as well as all kinds of fun hanging ideas) along with this adorable squirrel. Plus the sentiment is ideal. I colored the images with Zig Clean Color markers and the pine needles were stamped with Quick Quotes' Evergreen PowderPuff ink. The card is based on sketch by Heather from the Sketch N Scrap site.

Celebrate the Season Card

Hello and Welcome!

Just finishing up a few last minutes cards. This card came together quick and easy.

For this card I used Memory Box's Stitched Circle Trees die. I used a larger circle mask and blended Chipped Sapphire and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks. The little deer is a diecut by Taylored Expressions. The sentiment is by Hero Arts. I got the idea from a video by Laura Bassen. You can see it here.

Merry Christmas from Quick Quotes

Hello and Welcome!

Our household is busily preparing for the holidays. One our favorite traditions is sending out handmade cards to all of our friends and family. Here is one of my cards that will be going to someone special.

I created this card by layering different colors of green PowderPuff Chalking Inks (Green Leaf, Seafoam and Evergreen) on top of each other using a stamp positioner (the MISTI would work well too and is on my gift list). I wiped off the green ink from the pinecones each time. Next - without moving the positioner - I cleaned the wreath stamp and added Mocha Mama PowderPuff ink to just the pinecones with a daubber and stamped again.

Checkout the great depth and beautiful variegated look you get from this multiple colored stamping  technique. I also added clear gems, white Liquid Applique and Cranberry Adirondack Acrylics for a little pizazz.

To finish off this card, the sentiment was mounted on a banner and matted on Quick Quotes Earth, Wind, Fire papers.

Quick Quotes Products:
PowderPuff Chalking Inks: Green Leaf, Seafoam, Evergreen, Mocha Mama

Happy Birthday!

Hello and Welcome!
Today I am squeezing in a birthday page between all the holiday festivities.

This page was inspired by Corrie Jones' layout and video over at Jillibean Soup, and I used  mostly Jillibean Soup's Souper Celebration collection.

I also used Winnie & Walter's diecut for the gold birthday title and Verve Stamp's pink sequins.

Today I am the featured DT at Scrap Our Stash with this layout. For the SOS tic-tac-toe challenge I used the last column: Ribbon-Gold-Sequins

Come join in the fun! There is a lot of great inspiration, new ideas and prizes!

Christmas Coffee Card

Hello and Welcome!

Today I am joining the fun with the Coffee Loving Card Makers hop and I am up on the Quick Quotes blog.

I used Quick Quotes' new Serenade papers and edged everything with Coal Miner PowderPuff Chalking Ink. The colors of this collection are perfect for this time of the year.

For a fun twist I made a pocket for a gift card!

The cute coffee cup is a stamp by Paper Smooches. The fun Christmas frame is by My Favorite Things. The snowflakes are die cuts by Lawn Fawn and the sentiment is by Verve Stamps.

So come join the fun challenges. If you use die cuts on your card, as I did, we would love to have you join the Quick Quotes Challenge this month. You can link to it here. And if you have a winter themed coffee project you can enter it here.

Celebrate Together

Hello and welcome! Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday.

Our Thanksgiving tradition is for everyone to make a favorite dish to share. I thought it would be a good keepsake to create a page that included the recipes we used and photos of this occasion.

Most of the page is pretty simple, keeping the focus on the photo and recipes. I used Sonata and Windsong papers and quotes.

To make the recipe mini album:
  • cut five 6" x 3.5" rectangles from Windsong 102
  • attach each rectangle to the page with washi tape on left side, spacing each card an inch apart
  •  cut one 6" x 3.5" rectangle from Sonta 100
    • die cut the center to make a frame
    • attach to the top of the first Windsong rectangle
    • add title and embellishments
  • add recipe cards and photos
  • attach tabs

All of the pictures were printed with my Canon Selphy photo printer. The photos in the recipe album are mini prints. If you want a tutorial of how to make them, you can find it here.

Still Falling For You

Hello and welcome!

My husband, Jeff, and I went on a romantic weekend to Red Wing, MN and climbed the bluffs. The views are spectacular!

I designed this page for Scrap Our Stash and it is up on their blog today. I used the SOS sketch and word challenge. For this layout I stayed pretty close to the sketch and for the word challenge I used:
T - twine, Tim Holtz label
H - hearts
A - arrow
N - Nestabilities frame die
K - kraft
S - squirrel, swirls

I used mostly Carta Bella's Hello Fall pattern papers.

The chipboard leaf boarder is by Quick Quotes.

The cute squirrel and leaf die cuts are by Little B.

Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving and find some fun time to spend with your family,

Layered Powdered Inks

Hello and welcome!

I have a fun and colorful ink stamping technique for you today.

I love playing with Quick Quotes' PowderPuff Chalking Inks. For this card I stamped different colored inks on top of each other for this fabulous variegated look. Perfect for making fall leaves.

It was fun layering the inks and using different combinations of yellow, orange and red PowderPuff Chalking inks to create unique, colorful leaves using the same stamp. I used a stamp positioner (a Misti tool would also work well) and, starting with the lightest, stamped different shades of color on top of each other 3-4 times.

I love the depth and tones this technique creates.

The sentiment was stamped 3 times with PowderPuff Mocha Mama ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I then added gold Color Shine splatters, sequins and ribbon.

To finish off the card, the leaf panel was matted on brown and gold cardstock and then added to the Sonta 100 card base, which was chalked with PowderPuff Mocha Mama ink.

PowderPuff Chalking Inks: Mocha Mama, Lemon Sorbet, Buttercup, Desert Sun, Terra Cotta, Orange Slice, Lipstick and Barn Board
