Coffee Right Now Card

Hello and Welcome!

Still having fun creating cards for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. Here is my latest one:

The papers are by PhotoPlay and were part of a kit from The Scrap Room. The images and sentiment are by the Sweet Stamp Shop and were heat embossed with Stampendous clear powder and colored with Zig Clean Color markers. The background coffee beans are part of Tim Holtz coffee stamp set. The stitch frame was created from a die from Simon Says Stamps' Bundle Of Stitched Shapes. This card is based on a sketch from Your Next Stamp's blog.

I Love Coffee Best Card

Hello and Welcome!

I was so excited and inspired by Lydia Evans' card over at Winnie & Walter's blog. This technique of layering ink and adding resist stamping inbetween each blended layer to get different colors is brilliant. It is a bit of work and you have to love blending, but the results are amazing! Here is my take on Lydia's card for Winnie & Walter's Rerun Challenge:

I used Winnie & Walter's In Bloom: Anna's Flora. The leaves were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with clear powder and ink blended with Squeezed Lemonade, Ripe Persimmon, and Festive Berries Distress Inks. The sentiment is by Verve Stamps. The colored panel was diecut from Simon Says Stamps Bundle Of Stitched Shapes.

I encourage you to try this fun technique. It is perfect for fall. Thanks for stopping by,

Baby Blue Eyes Layout

Hello and Welcome!

This cutie is now a teenager, heading off to high school in a few minutes. But I thought it would be fun to do one of Aaron's baby pictures.

I was inspired by the colors in Kaisercraft's mood board and wanted to try a little vintage, shabby chic. So I here is my layout:

I love the way Kaiser's pattern papers from different collections can work so well together. All of the pattern papers and journaling cards are by Kaiser, and include papers from the Base Coat, Duchess, Fleamarket & 75 cents collections. I distressed the edges with scissors and used Walnut Stain Distress Ink on them.

The background has silver heart made with Inka Gold and a stencil. I also used Cheery Lynn's Mini Fanciful Flourish diecut to create the vines around the flower clusters along with silver heart diecuts from Simon Says Stamps. To finish off this page, I added machine stitching, cheesecloth  ribbon, flowers, buttons boarder punch and letters by SEI.

Tyler's Birthday Page

Hello and Welcome!

Can't believe tiny, little baby that I carried around in the crook of my arm, is celebrating his 28th birthday. WHAT?! We all had a lot of fun partying with Tyler at one of his favorite places - Pizza Luce. Here is the layout:

It seemed only right to use a Stuck?! sketch, as they too are celebrating their 3rd anniversary.  I love this sketch as it allowed me to use up a bunch of old embellishments by tucking them behind the photo. (Great idea, Laura!) The papers are Party Time by Echo Park and were part of a kit from The Scrap Room. The gold stars were made using Inka Gold and a Winnie & Walter stencil (Big Bang Sci Fi). The title was made with Thickers and stamps by Winnie & Walter.

Coffee Tag

Hello and Welcome!

Hooray, the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop is ON! This is one of my favorite hops (and with the hundreds of cards Amy's event attracts - I'm not alone). Here is my first entry:

I recently purchase this "coffee" diecut by Verve Stamps. The leaves are diecuts by The Cat's Pajamas. The cup diecut is by Simon Says Stamp. The frame is by Simple Stories. The "to/from" die is by Winnie & Walter. The many pattern papers are by K. Marcella (Target).

Smile Coffee Card

Hello and Welcome!

The weather is starting to turn a little cooler here in Minnesota. After a beastly hot summer, this is a welcome change. The lush green of summer is about to fade and the spectacular colors of fall are about to arrive. Perfect time to be making autumn cards (and always a good time to make them about coffee):

I recently got a few stamps sets from Papertrey Ink. I used two sets on the card - Heart 2 Heart (coffee cup) and Flower Fusion (vines). I was inspired by the mood photo on Nicole Heady's blog. The musical background is a Heidi Swapp stamp. The sentiment is Wet Paint by Papertrey Ink. I used Distress and Simon Says Stamp Dye inks. The panel was finished off with a scalloped frame die from WP9 and Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

Warmest Wishes Card

Hello and Welcome!

I recently got Memory Box's Winter Snowflakes stencil and Delicate Stitched Snowflakes dies and wanted to try them out. Here is my card, which was based on a sketch by My Favorite Things:

The background is Memory Box's Snowflakes stencil with Tumble Glass & Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks. I also blended the same Distress Inks (along with Blueprint Sketch) on another piece of white cardstock and die cut Memory Box's Stitched Snowflakes. I stamped the Neat & Tangled sentiment, then heat embossed it with clear powder and cut it with a circle die. The My Favorite Things' little girl & gifts from their Jiggle All The Way set was stamped with Simon Say Stamp black hybrid ink, colored with Copics and fussy cut. The Paper Studio pattern paper was die cut with Simon Say Stamp rectangle frame from their Bundle Of Stitched Shapes set. I adhered everything together and added clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Vellum Pinecone Card

Hello and Welcome!

I was so inspired by Julia Altermann's "Coloring on Vellum" video, I thought I'd give it a try using CAS-ual Friday stamps. Instead of coloring with Copic markers, however, I used metallic embossing powders. Here is my take:

I stamped CAS-ual Friday's Pinecone stamps with Versamark on vellum and heat embossed with WOW's Primary Pixie green, Zing's Metallic green and Ranger's Princess gold embossing powders. I added extra dimension by adhering the sloping, stitched white cardstock on top of the vellum. The vellum gives this card an illuminating kind of affect. It really has that wow factor. The sentiment is from the same CAS-ual Friday set and I angled it to match the slope. For extra bling, I added red gems. This card was also inspired by the color pallet at Your Next Stamp and peek-a-boo window from the mood photo from Time Out Challenges.

Smile Card

Hello and Welcome!

A quick and easy card today. It would be perfect for mass producing as Christmas cards.

I was inspired by Laurie Willison's beautiful card at Papertrey Ink. The "Smile" is Papertrey's Wet Paint diecut, which I cut from white cardstock and craft foam. The phrase is from Papertrey's Lighten Up sentiments set. I masked the area for the phrase, stamped Shimelle's sunburst in Versamark, heat embossed with Zing yellow powder and stamped the phrase in the masked area. Next this panel was diecut with Simon Says Stamps' Bundle Of Stitched Shapes to create the pretty stitched frame. To finish things, added the foam sentiment and Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

Movie Night Treat Bag

Hello and Welcome!

My adventurous husband, Jeff, wanted to try his hand at papercrafting tonight. I showed him the challenges and turned him loose on my stash. He had a ball and made this delightful popcorn treat bag:

The letter stickers are by Elle's Studio. The popcorn and film reel diecuts are by Taylored Expressions, and the film strip is by Tim Holtz.  The layout is based on a sketch at MFT Card Challenges, and the style is all Jeff!

Curb Appeal Layout

Hello and Welcome!

We did a lot of remodeling on our house this summer. One of the biggest projects was completely replacing and painting the siding. It was 2 weeks of banging, crashing and hammering, but it was so worth it. The house is so beautiful. Here is the page I made about the transformation:

I used The Scrap Room's September kit which included pattern papers & wood embellishments from Pink Paisley by Paige Evans. The design is based on a sketch from Stuck?! (who having an anniversary bash - check it out). I also used Ki's puffy paint stickers (date on the package was 2005 - talk about being a hoarder) and papers from October Afternoon.

Let It Snow Card

Hello and Welcome!

It is still summer, but never too early to play with these adorable Lawn Fawn winter stamps and dies. Lawnscaping had a great challenge of using texture, so I pulled out all the stops. Here is the card:

I used Lawn Fawn's Stitched Snowflakes dies and with a rubber mat embossed them into the background and then blended Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon distress inks. I also used the stitched rectangle die to frame the outside and adhered it to DCWV's colored burlap for added texture. Here is a detail:

I stamped, colored with Zig Clean Color marker, and fussy cut the bunnies from Lawn Fawn's Snowy Day stamp set. The Lawn Fawn Stitched Snowflake was die cut from silver glitter paper and a red diecut heart & sequin was added on top.

I used Lawn Fawn's Let It Snow Border cut from Lawn Fawn pattern paper (I used both side of the paper). To finish off the card Pretty Pink Posh clear sequins were added. This card was also inspired by the colors and sketch at Your Next Stamp Challenge.

Jingle Card

Hello and Welcome!

It's time! Oh, yes. With the dozens of handmade Christmas cards going out this year, I've got to get started now. So here is one of my first of the season:

The trees are generationally stamped from My Favorite Things Trim A Tree stamp set. The sentiment is from MFT's Jingle All The Way set and is heat embossed. The cute deer are diecuts from Taylored Expressions plus I used two of TE's green dye inks. I finished this card off with Pretty Pink Posh clear sequins and tiny bells from October Afternoon.

Bakken Layout

Hello and Welcome!

My Aunt June and Uncle Tom came for a visit over Labor Day. We had a great time together. One of the fun places we took them was the Bakken Electrical Museum (Uncle Tom is an Electrical Engineer). Here is the layout:

I used Creative Embellishments Circuit stamp (one of my favorites) plus chipboard gears (large & small) and Idea Light Bulb. I took many elements from CE's inspirational challenge photo too - including the many real clock parts (my father-in-law repairs clocks), the swirling ideas and gears. The layout is based on a sketch by My Creative Sketch. The clock stamp on top is by Simon Say Stamp's Music 2 My Ears set. The title is by Thickers and the paper is by Basic Grey. I finished off this page with gold thread and machine stitching.

Thanks for stopping and if you are in Minneapolis area, I highly recommend stopping by the Bakken.

Cheers Card

Hello and Welcome!

I had some leftover pattern paper from a layout (this is how I started with cardmaking) and decided to create this card. Using My Favorite Things card sketch made this card come together in no time:

I used My Favorite Things Mini Wavy Banners diecuts and Celebrate Big stamp set along with lace from Freckled Fawn, homemade enamel dots and pattern paper from Heidi Swapp. I also used Cheery Lynn's Exotic Butterfly diecut with Angle wings. To finished off this piece I did some machine sewing.
