Happy Mom's Day

Hello and Welcome!

Every day is a happy Mother's Day with these two boys!

This layout uses products from Fancy Pant's Atwell collection which was part of The Scrap Room's May 2016 Flavor of the Month kit. This is one of my favorite kits and save it for very special occasions like this. The Scrap Room (TSR) offers sketches, "how to's" and challenges to use with their kits. This page is based on one of TSR's sketches.
No automatic alt text available.

I also added Queen's & Co. pink flowers, Simon Says Stamps' Circle Loops & Cheerylynn's bunny dies and Thickers. Here are a few detail shots:

Stamping with PowderPuff Chalking Inks

Hello Quick Quotes Fans! Glad you joined us today.

I LOVE PowderPuff Chalking Inks. They are my "go to" colored ink for most techniques. These inks come in a huge variety of BEAUTIFUL colors, blend effortlessly and stamp with amazing results.
Check out today's card and see if you don't agree!

Designer Tip:
The trick to getting rich, vibrant and all-over coverage on bold images is stamping twice. To accurately line up your stamps each time use a MISTI or Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. You can also customize your colors by layering different colors on top of each other.

To create this card:
  • Stamp 3 large flowers, first with Fuchsia PowderPuff Ink, then layer Orange Slice PowderPuff Ink. Use Lipstick PowderPuff Ink for center detail. Fussy cut.
  • Stamp 3 small flowers, with Caribbean Blue PowderPuff Ink.  Stamp each image twice for smooth coverage. Added center detail with Royal Blue PowderPuff Ink.Fussy cut.
  • Stamp 3 small flowers, with Royal Blue PowderPuff Ink. Stamp each image twice for smooth coverage. Added center detail with Plum PowderPuff Ink.Fussy cut.
  • Cut sentiment from Mulberry Quotes & Phrases and add border stripes to top and bottom.
  • On 4" x 5-1/4" white cardstock, pencil in a 3-1/2" circle. Stamp leaves along the circle using Green Leaf and Limade PowderPuff Inks.
  • With a black pen trace over penciled circle, skipping over the stamped leaves
  • Attach flowers in 3 clusters, popping up a few.
  • Attach sentiment with Foam Squares.
  • Finish off with Dew Drops.
  • Mat with 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" blue Mulberry paper (MB-103).

Nose to Nose

Hello and Welcome!

Our cat, Ciati, got nose-to-nose with this brazen squirrel. I don't know who was more nervous, the squirrel, the cat or me! Luckily, everything ended peacefully, and best of all I got the photo!

  • The fun animals, leaves and frame chipboard are by Creative Embellishment.
  •  This page was inspired by the bright yellow circle on the mood board.
  •  I used Freckled Fawn's stamps to create the journal square with Waffleflower inks.
  • The title letters and square doily are also by Freckled Fawn. I finished off this page with twine and Ranger's Enamel Accents.
  • This page is based on a sketch on the Freckled Fawn blog.

Downton Dames Layout for Scrap Our Stash

Hello and Welcome!

My girlfriend hadn't seen the Downton Abby finale, so we made a party of it and dressed up! We had so much fun together. That's one of the great things about scrapbooking, you get to relive these great times all over again!

This is my design for the Scrap Our Stash team, based on this month's fabulous sketch with the additional word challenge of MOTHER. If you want to play along or see more ideas with this sketch hop on over to the SOS blog by clicking here.

Image may contain: text

For the word challenge, I used:
     M-Maggie Holmes
     O-oval
     T-tiny tag with thread
     H-Hero Arts stamps
     E-enamel dots
     R-red

I rarely get to do a girly page. so I pulled out all the stops with pinks, flowers and everything fru-fru.  I used Prima flowers, Maggie Holmes' flairs & stickers and Hero Arts flourish stamps. Here are some close ups:

Ty's YouTube Layout

Hello and Welcome!

I am so excited to see Tyler pursue his passions. He is writing a fantasy novel, working on advancing his financial analyst career and creating a very successful YouTube gaming channel - Geoswarp! Here I am helping him shoot footage for a Pokemon Go video.

The inspiration for this layout was the leaf shaker. It has been migrating around my crafting room for years, never really finding a home. (Do you have products like that?) So today I decided it need to be on a page. Grabbing these great fall photos of my son, along with and Jen Hadfield's Warm & Cozy collection and a fabulous sketch from Stuck?!, this page came together beautifully.

For some interesting details, I  added Robin Nests' dew drops, buttons, machine stitching, twine, and Color Shine ink splatters. Also check out the depth the fabulous Birch Tree Window die by Simon Says Stamp gives the fox.

In Sync with Quick Quotes

Hello Quick Quotes fans! June here with another fun layout for you. I paired Clear Scraps' "Fleur D Lis Shaker" with Quick Quotes' Earth Wind Fire papers and, of course, printed these photos using Cannon's Selphy CP1200 Wireless Compact Photo printer . These products are so fun to play with and help to bring pages together fast.

I love the Clear Scraps' shaker, it adds fun, sparkle and movement to the page. To customize it:
  • the back panel was painted with white paint
  • the top was heat embossed with silver embossing powder
  • it was filled with sequins in my son's school colors
The large photo was matted on Quick Quotes' Earth Wind Fire 101 paper was popped up using a triple layer of 3L's Foam Squares. The banner was fussy cut from the flip side of Earth Wind Fire 101.

I used Quick Quotes Windsong 102 as the background. Earth Wind Fire 101 & 105 (reds) were used as a contrast to the greens in the photos to make them pop. To finish off the page Earth Wind Fire chipboard die cuts were added along with musical brads, machine stitched Thickers and a stamped heart. All of the chipboard and papers were edged using Mocha Mama PowderPuff Chalking Ink.

Sunflower Bloom Layout

Hello and Welcome!

One of my favorite hobbies, besides paper crafting is gardening. Last year my sunflowers did really well. I love their bright, bold colors with beautiful contrasts.

This page is based on a sketch from Stuck?! Sketches. All of the papers on this page are from Kaisercraft's Blubelle collection. I fell in love with the whole collection and bought fistsfuls of it. The colors go perfectly with the photos of my sunflowers. The layered borders are the tear strips from the Kaiser papers. The wood veneer is also by Kaiser. The journal frame is Memory Box's Jasmine Frame, which was diecut in white and colored with Zig Clean Color markers to match. I also added shading to the diecut sunflowers. For some fun detail and texture machine stitching, cheesecloth and Kaiser's natural twine was added.

Mom, Let Me!

Hello and Welcome!

These are photos of "who can take the better selfie." I think my son won.

I threw everything into this layout. It has a cut file (sun by Yana McCarthy), watercoloring and even a shaker! I used new products like Elle's Studio's "Live Laugh Love" Bits & Pieces and older Freckled Fawn embellishments (from their Gypsy and July 2014 collections). This page is based on a sketch at The ScrapRoom and uses Elle's Studio Shine & Little Moments papers from The ScrapRoom's 2016 kits. I was also inspired by the mood board at Scrap-Challenge-YOUrself as these photos were taken during Spring Break.

Spring Tradition at Como Layout

Hello and Welcome!

My son and I have a tradition to see the Macy's Flower Show over spring break. Sadly, the downtown Macy's closed this year so we had to find a new place. The Como Conservatory was just the ticket, not only beautiful flowers, but there is also a zoo next door. A two-fer!

I was challenged to use Therm O Web's products, and wow, did I have fun. I took Therm O Web's Sticky Strip Runner and Sticky Dot Mini Runner and ran horizontal & vertical stripes across white cardstock. Then I just rubbed with my fingers a rainbow of Deco Foil colors onto the adhesive. Check out the fabulous results and NO laminator needed! This page is based on a sketch on the Therm O Web blog.

Next I added my photos on a grid and matted it in black. Then, using Elle's Studio's new Live Love Laugh Bit & Pieces, I embellished the layout. Next, I cut the flowers with Poppy Stamp's "Stitched Blooming Trio" dies (my new favorite) from Elle's Studio's Live Laugh Love pattern papers. To finish off the page, I stacked the flowers and added dots with Ranger's Enamel Accents.

BYOH?! layout with Scrap Our Stash

Hello and Welcome!

I was really stuck for a title for this page, so I got some help from my biggest fan, my husband. He came up the idea "BYOH" Bring Your Own Home! We both laughed and decided it was perfect.

With a great title in place, my creativity really took off. This layout was created mostly with Bobunny's Camp-A-Lot pattern papers. I also fussy cut the leaves from that line. For texture and interest I added DCWV burlap, burlap Thickers and Robin's Nest Dew Drops.

This page was based on Scrap Our Stash's Tic Tac Toe Challenge. So many great options to expand your creativity on your page. I chose the first column:
JOURNAL CARD, YELLOW, 3+ PATTERN PAPERS

Thanks for stopping by, and if you're stuck, sometimes all it takes is a really great title.

1st High School Band Concert

Hello and Welcome!

It's time to get messy! This layout is of my son's first high school band concert. We love hearing him play that trumpet.

I used all the fun stuff today. I started with gesso on the background. Next I misted it with Heidi Swapp's sun rays stencil and yellow Color Shines. Simon Says Stamp's Falling Stars stencil was used with silver embossing paste on the right. WOW's silver embossing powder was used on the title to enhance the heart. I layered Elle's Studio's pattern papers from their Little Moments collection behind the photo. To jazz things up, I embellished with Creative Embellishment's musical chipboard and frame. The silver glitter stars were die cut from Simon Says Stamps' Large Holiday Shapes. This layout is based on Sketch #275 at Sketches in Thyme.

Mother's Day Card with Quick Quotes

Hello and welcome Quick Quote fans!

Here is a fun and pretty Mother's Day card. Jennifer McGuire recently had a video showing how to use tulle to create a shaker card. I decided to try it using Quick Quote products. Check it out:

The card base was made with Windsong paper. After the flower & leaves from Winnie & Walter's Anna Floral set were stamped and heat embossed, they were colored by blending several PowderPuff Chalking Inks. The tulle center adds soft, textured look.

Also, Susie has an exciting Mother's Day Challenge at Quick Quote you can check it out here.

Quick Quotes Products:
Windsong Paper Pack
PowderPuff Chalking Inks: Sunset, Pixie Pink, Green Leaf, Evergreen, Limeade

Cherish Auntie June Layout

Hello and Welcome!

I am crafting as fast as I can to enter all the fun National Scrapbook Day Challenges. So much fun. This layout is about Auntie June (my godmother and namesake) who came for a visit over Labor Day. We hadn't seen her in years and had the best time.

This layout used Elle's Studio Little Moment collection (which was part of The ScrapRoom's Favor Of The Month kit from April 2016) along with Dazzlers flowers and Thickers. This layout used The ScrapRoom's clever challenge call Freaky Fast, where you cut & arrange your paper first, then add photos and embellishments. Check it out here. I also did some stamping and framed the journaling.
