Celebrate with Paper Smooches

Hello and Welcome!

I'm getting into fast gear with creating Christmas cards. And it is just not the start of the holidays without a Paper Smooches gnome Santa card.

This card was inspired by  Paper Smooches' November Challenge mood board. I used the colors along with the leaves (substituted snowflakes) and the pink gift pictures. The gifts in this card are from Paper Smooches' Hullabaloo stamps set. The tiny golden stars are from Simon Says Stamps' Stacked Stars die cut.

Jerome the Gnome, from Paper Smooches' Forest Whimsy stamp set, is such a versatile little guy. Color his hat red - Santa. Green - a gnome. And (a big favorite with my guys) brown - a dwarf. And speaking of versatile, Paper Smooches' Celebrate Word Die (which here was cut 3x and coated with Glossy Accents) can be used for so many occasions too!

Enjoy the holidays!

Tennessee Sights

Hello and Welcome!

This was our first time visiting Nashville, but it won't be our last! We had so much fun. This page shows some of the unique sights around the city that caught my eye.

The pattern paper is by Echo Park. The fun gold, glittery stars are Simon Says Stamps' Stacked Stars die cut.

Season's Greetings Tag

Hello and Welcome!

With Christmas just around the corner, it is time to start making some fun cards and tags!

This tag was inspired by Tracey McNeely's Happy Holidays tag from Day 17 of her "25 Days Of Christmas Tags" Challenge. The kids are a stamps by Waffle Flower colored with Zig watercolor markers. The snow border is Hero Arts' Snowflake Edge Fancy Die cut from DCWV white glitter cardstock. I make the background by blending Distress Oxide Inks and splattering it with white paint. The sentiment is by Verve stamped on vellum.

Bicentennial Capitol Mall Park Page

Hello and Welcome!

This summer we vacationed in Nashville, Tennessee. One of the highlights was visiting their capitol and walking through Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. The grounds are beautiful with many interesting things to explore.

With so many photos, I toned down the papers and embellishments. The papers are by Simple Stories and the embellishments are by October Afternoon. This page is based on a sketch by Sketch N' Scrap.

Thankful Card

Hello and Welcome!

Fall was very brief this year in Minnesota. It seemed we only had 2 weeks of cool weather and glorious colored leaves before the snow came. Here is a card I made for a friend for Thanksgiving:

Last month I won the Memory Box Challenge and the prize included this beautiful sentiment called Thankful Jotted Script, which was die cut several times and stacked to add depth for this card. This die includes a shadow which I cut from vellum. The leaves are Poppy Stamps' Whittle Oak Leaf die cut from Quick Quotes' Autumn Brilliance papers. To finish the card Nuvo Drops and twine were added.

Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Thank You Snow Much Card

Hello and Welcome!

It's snowing tonight again. This much snow in November is unusual even for Minnesota. Luckily this is perfect weather for staying home and crafting. Here is a snow inspired card:

The sentiment is mostly from Altenew's Heartfelt Sentiments stamp set, but I masked in the word "snow" from The Cat's Pajama's stamp set. The background was colored with metallic paint using the resist method. The adorable snowman is a die cut from Simon Says Stamps' Picture Book Snowman, with the gold glitter star from SSS's Large Holiday Shapes. The snowman's eye, nose and buttons were filled in with Ranger's Ebony Enamel paint.

Awesome Aaron

Hello and Welcome!

This is a picture of my High School Senior's photo shoot for his yearbook. We are so thankful our little guy has grown into such a smart, talented and handsome young man.

This awesome paper from Pinkfresh's LIFE NOTED collection was perfect for this photo! I love how the colors just blend together.

I kept the embellishments simple, using just a few Studio Puff Stickers from Pinkfresh's BOYS FORT and gold glitter stars & heart die cut from Simon Says Stamp's LARGE HOLIDAY SHAPES.

Family Tree with Quick Quotes

Hello and Welcome!

When each of my sons were in first grade, we planted seedling trees. The photo shows these trees (the pines are Tyler's and the poplars are Aaron's) now that my guys are young adults. Even though the boys are not around as much, I can always remember this sweet memory with a glance out the window.

Quick Quotes' Autumn Brilliance Paper and Heritage Quotes Digital Collections are perfect for this page. The colors really highlight the photos and the digi title is a great play on words. Here is the step-by-step if you would like to recreate this layout:
  • Mat photos on 10.5" x 4.25" cream cardstock, edge with Terra Cotta PowderPuff Chalking Ink
  • Mat this on 11.75" x 5" Autumn Brilliance 100, edge with Terra Cotta PowderPuff Chalking Ink

  • Print title at 2.5" x 4.5" and other quotes 1"x 1.5" from Heritage Quotes Digital Collection on cream cardstock, edge with Terra Cotta PowderPuff Chalking Ink
  • Mat quotes on Autumn Brilliance 102, edge with Cool Gray PowderPuff Chalking Ink and add brads.

  • Cut 2 strips .25" x 10.5" from Autumn Brilliance 101, edge with Barn Board PowderPuff Chalking Ink
  • Die cut leaves and edge with Barn Board, Terra Cotta, Slate or Mahogany PowderPuff Chalking Inks
  • Adhere all the above elements to Autumn Brilliance 100

Wartburg College Visit Page with Quick Quotes

Hello and Welcome!

We are doing college tours with my high school senior. One of our favorite schools was Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Their biology department even had a courtyard with some very personable tortoises and we had a ball feeding them!

I was inspired to commemorate this day with Quick Quotes' new Autumn Brilliance collection. Isn't gorgeous?! Your can check out the entire collection here.

Here is the step-by-step to create this page. (Note: all of the papers were edged with Cool Grey PowderPuff Chalking Ink.)
  • Start with the background paper Autumn Brilliance 102.
  • Layer on 7" x 9.5" Autumn Brilliance 101 (red) to right side.
  • Attach 6.5" circle of Autumn Brilliance 103 to the top and add title.
  • Attach 3 photos and journaling to 8" x 9.5" Autumn Brilliance 102 (gray side).
  • Fussy cut swirls and leaves from Autumn Brilliance 102 and tuck around the page.
  • Add embellishments - I stamped the books/test tubes on Autumn Brilliance 102, colored with waterbrush pens and fussy cut

Deck The Halls Tag

Hello and Welcome!

Woohoo! It's Tag Time!!! Tracey McNeely does this fun event called...

https://inmycreativeopinion.blogspot.com/

For the next 25 days Tracey has all kinds of ideas, videos, guests and prizes to make your gift giving extra special with handmade tags. Here is my first tag:

This tag was inspired by Lin Brandberry's Winter Wonderland tag from Day 1. I like the stamped trees on woodgrain paper and the beautiful ribbons. I used Winnie & Walter's Scenery V for cheVron set for the trees. The bird, sentiment and hearts are from Winnie & Walter's Happiest of Holidays stamp set. I was also inspired to use Heather's color combo.
