Thanks for Listening

Hello and Welcome!

I have a really good friend who was so helpful to me in working through a problem. She listened, guided and supported me and it really helped. I made this card for her.

I love Hero Arts' Fennec The Fox stamp set. This little fox is bursting with personality and the sentiments are perfect! I colored him with Zig Clean Color markers. The pattern paper is Bliss by My Minds Eye and the sequins are by Pretty Pink Posh. This card is based on a design from Sketch N' Scrap.

Valentine's Day

Hello and Welcome!

Jeff and I enjoyed Valentine's Day at our favorite restaurant, Campiello. It was so wonderful being together without kids.

This page is based on a great sketch (see below) by Rochelle Spears. I did flip it and adapt the design for one photo. The flowers and gold embossing were inspired by Stacy's inspiration photo (see below).  I used pattern papers by My Minds Eye (hearts) and Heidi Swapp (ombre pink).

The colors on this page were inspired by a romantic photo on the Creative Embellishment's blog (see below). The beautiful chipboard swirls and title, which were heat embossed with Ranger's Princess Gold, are made by Creative Embellishments.

The fun, layered stitched flowers (Stitched Bloom Trio), Little Hummingbirds and the Embossed Love sentiment are all die cut by Poppy Stamps. A heart shaped doily and clear heart shaped gems were also added.

Super Blood Moon

Hello and Welcome!

Our family really enjoys astronomy, so we were excited to view the super blood moon eclipse! A super moon means the moon looks the biggest in the sky due its closeness to the earth. A blood moon refers to the reddish glow the moon gets from the reflection of the earth during the eclipse. You can really see the red glow on the photos I took with my simple Cannon camera and built in zoom (and a very steady hand!).

The Altenew "To The Moon" and "Tiny Stars" stamp sets were prefect for this theme, and the challenge sketch was just right for these photos!

HOW TO:
  • I started by stamping black cardstock with  Altenew's Tiny Stars and Altenew's Embossing Ink in a circle, then heat embossing with Silver Embossing Powder.
  • The photos were matted with dark gray cardstock and attached.

  • Altenew's "To The Moon" was stamped with Altenew's Gray Denim Ink on pale yellow cardstock and cut with a circle die, then attached.
  • The title and journaling were done on light gray cardstock and attached.
I love how this page turned out and how fast and easy it came together with the Altenew products!

Aaron's Birthday at The Melting Pot

Hello and Welcome!

Aaron turned 18! He is now a legal adult. It is both exciting and scary for all of us. We celebrated this big milestone at his favorite restaurant, The Melting Pot.

The pattern papers are from Pebbles' Happy Hooray collection.

The 5 balloons are stamps by Winnie & Walter, from their The Party (round) and So Tweet (heart) sets, which were colored with Zig watercolor markers and fussy cut.

The "happy birthday" are stamps from W&W's The Big, the Bold and the Happy. The gift stamp is from W&W's The Party. This layout is based on a sketch from the Sketch N Scrap blog.

Carnival Concert

Hello and Welcome!

The varsity band puts on a carnival for the community's kids. It includes games & prizes and ends with a fabulous concert featuring lots of Disney movie songs. Love how Aaron and the other trumpets played in the audience. Jeff's parents drove up and joined in the fun.

Carta Bella's Circus Party collection was perfect for this page. Love their cute Ferris Wheel sticker.

I also used several stamp sets by Winnie & Walter. The fun tassels (5 large & 5 small) are from their The Party stamp set and were heat embossed with Ranger's silver embossing powder.

The fireworks by the journaling are from W&W's Sparkle stamp set, also heat embossed. The words below the journaling are from W&W's The Big, the Bold and the Fun: Seasons & Extras.

Wartburg College Visit

Hello and Welcome!

After checking out dozens of colleges, Aaron has narrowed it down to two: Wartburg and Carroll. So we decided to pay each another visit. This page shows our wonderfully fun trip to Wartburg College in Iowa.

In the hey day of scrapbooking there were so many amazing paper companies, but sadly many of them are gone. These pattern papers are by Daisy D and I have been hoarding them for a decade, but it is time to get them into the album.

To update this page, I used stamps by Winnie & Walter, which is currently celebrating their 5 year anniversary! The confetti is from W&W's The Party stamp set and the bird is from their Happiest Of Holidays set. Both were colored with Zig watercolor markers.

The cute heart envelop is from W&W's So Tweet stamp set. I also added 5 decorative brads and the little car is a stamp by Lawn Fawn.

Working at CUB

Hello and Welcome!

Aaron started his first job at the CUB grocery store doing maintenance. One of his tasks is to gather hundreds of carts for hours in all kinds of weather. It is a difficult job, but he has gotten good at it. We are so proud of him!

I recently found a box of old scrapbooking kits. This kit was one given out to participants at the old Archiver's crops. Some of the papers were dated 2008!

I journaled on the striped paper. The chipboard swirls are by Maya Arts, which I painted white and added Stampendous white glitter. I was thrilled to find this cart paper by Jillibean Soup which worked perfectly with this theme! This page is based on the right side sketch featured on Scrap Our Stash.

Dinner with Treasure

Hello and Welcome!

I met this fabulous women, named Treasure, who has changed my life. She seems to know just what to say and is so kind. She and I met at crop in St.Paul and instantly became friends. We now meet once a month for dinner at Khan's BBQ.

I created this page using Graphic 45's Ladies Diary collection. The florals are die cuts by Paper Smooches.

The mat behind the photo is vintage newsprint.

Jesse James Days

Hello and Welcome!

Every year Northfield Minnesota reenacts the town's take down of the Jesse James Gang. It is well done and very exciting. Jeff and I got to go this year:

This two page layout was great fun for me as I love horses and grew up working on ranches. Most of the supplies are older products from my stash.

This page was inspired by "The True Story of Jesse James" a movie from 1957 starring Robert Wagner.

Homecoming Parade

Hello and Welcome!

As we are getting another wave of snow storms, this one bringing 4" and more on the way, I thought it would be nice to stay home and scrap a time when life was a little more carefree. This is a page about Aaron performing with his high school marching band in the homecoming parade.

I used some new large gold sequins from Simon Says Stamp to brighten up this layout, but most of the products used are older items from my stash.

To make the interactive journaling card, a pocket was created behind the main photo and a tag was tucked into it.

Love and the Sculpture Gardens

Hello and Welcome!

Jeff and I had a wonderful time wandering around the Minneapolis Sculpture Gardens and Loring Park. The views are so beautiful.

I adore Pink Fresh Studio products and this page was created with their Felicity and Life Noted collections.  I love the Life Noted acetate die cut words and wood foil stickers. So unique!

The fun words, like "you & me just click," stamped on the Felicity paper are from the Pink Fresh Studio Life Noted clear stamp set. And for some bling,  Life Noted foiled epoxy stickers was also added.

The photos were matted with the heart and pink Felicity papers. The red hearts were cut from Simon Says Stamps Large Holiday Shapes die.
