Talon Car Show Pocket Page

Hello and Welcome!

Aaron worked hard on gathering silent auction donations and doing concessions for his robotics team's Car Show fundraiser. He did take a break to check out the new Tesla, though.

Kaisercrafts' challenge this month was to create a pocket page. I have never made a pocket page before and found it challenging, but fun. I used mostly Kaiser's Off The Wall collection including papers, stickers and Collectables.  I also sewed a shaker pocket made from Kaiser's Attitude acetate and filled it with bronze sequins. The silver stars were made with Simon Says Stamps' Large Holiday Shapes die.

Paper Smooches Bear Hugs

Hello and Welcome!

The challenge at Paper Smooches this month is COZY. Being from Minnesota we know about getting cozy, so I asked myself what really makes me feel cozy. I came up with 2 things, big fluffy sweaters and hugs from my 6' (and still growing) teenage son, nicknamed Bear. Here is how I turned these ideas into a card:

Do you ever get so excited you dance all around the house laughing when you nail an idea? That is what happen when I made the Paper Smooches' bear (from Happy Camper set) with his sweater. The sweater was made with DCWV fabric and a tiny button. The bear was colored with Copic markers, fussy cut and popped up with Foam Squares (3L). Love how his little tail pokes out the back.

The Bear Hugs sign, from the same Paper Smooches set, was colored with colored with Zig Clean Color markers and fussy cut. The background was watercolored, splattered with Heidi Swapp metallic white paint and diecut with Simon Says Stamps' Stitched Rectangle.

I Love You To The Moon And Back Card

One of my favorite stamp sets is The Cat's Pajama's "Space Cadet". So when I saw the Hero Arts' "Shoot For The Moon" sentiment set, I knew they would make many fun cards together.

I colored the TCP's spaceship with Copic markers, fussy cut and added 3D Foam Squares (3L). The moon & sentiment are from the Hero Arts stamp set. The starry background was make with Simon Say Stamp's "Falling Stars" stencil and molding paste.

This card is entered in:
  • TCP Tuesday #330 at The Cat's Pajamas  geo shapes include stars, moon & hearts.

Big Thanks Card

Hello and Welcome!

I have been working at getting my Christmas layout pages done, but tonight it was time to take a break and make a card. Nichole Heady is having a one day inspirational photo challenge and it works perfectly with the cute hedgehogs from Gerda Steiner. Here is the card:

The big "Thanks" die cut is by Papertrey Ink and it is cut from white cardstock and shadowed with pink. The flowers are Papertrey Ink's "Flower Fusion" stamped with Quick Quotes Powder Puff chalk inks. The "Smooching Hedgehogs" are by Gerda Steiner and are colored with Zig Clean Color markers.

January Sketch Challenge at Scrap Our Stash

Hello and Welcome!

Hope 2017 has been good you so far and you are finding time to play with your papers!

Check out the latest sketch with a twist from Scrap Our Stash:

No automatic alt text available.

Love this sketch by Rochelle Spears and thought it worked well for my New Year’s photos. To give this page a festive evening look, I used a black background and glittery gold stars made with CAS-ual Fridays "Fri-Dies" die cuts. (This look would also work well with concert, prom & date night pictures.)

I really enjoyed the word twist to this challenge (GOALS), which pushed my creativity. I used:
G-glitter
O-orange sequins, “Observations” word band
A-arrow
L-lined paper
S-stars

Just for fun, I added a Heidi Swapp sequin pouch on the left side.

You can see more inspiration and join in on the challenge at scrapourstash.blogspot.com. Looking forward to see what creative ideas you come up with for this challenge. And you might even win a prize!

Wonderful Layout

Hello and Welcome!

I purchased these fun, circular Christmas post-it notes and thought it would be interesting to make a page with them. Here is what I came up with:

The Scrap Challenge YOUrself was the inspiration for the title. The photo frame is a die cut by Cheery Lynn. The bow is a die cut from Maggie Holmes. To finish off the page, I added pine branches & cones, gold Stickles, & thread and tags for journaling. Here are a few detail shots.

Quick Quotes Design Team Announcement & Card

Hello and Welcome!!!

I am so excited today to announce that Quick Quotes has asked me to join their Design Team. This is so exciting. Head over to the Quick Quotes blog  to see the official announcement.  To celebrate, I created this card made with Quick Quotes Powder Puff Chalk Inks as watercolor. I added multiple layers of pigment (Blue Hawaii & Blue Moon), letting each layer dry in between applications to get this ombra look. The background pattern paper is QQ's Calyso.

The bunny, snowflakes and sentiment are by The Cat's Pajamas. And I colored the bunny image with Zig Clear Color markers and fussy cut.

Scrap Our Stash Debut

Hello and Welcome!!

Thank you for stopping by for my first posting as a Design Team member for Scrap Our Stash. I am so excited. Scrap Our Stash is a wonderful site that helps us "collectors" get our products out of storage and into albums with daily inspiration and fun challenges. You can even win prizes.

Check out Scrap Our Stash's new challenge for the New Year:

January 2017 Tic Tac Toe Stash Challenge

I used the first column: paint, 5+ pattern papers & twine plus the first row: paint, die cut & Simple Stories.

Since this is my first Design Team layout, I thought I'd combine my two passions - scrapbooking and Jazzercise - with a fun New Years twist:

Wanting to use up my scraps of beautiful Bobuny Believe paper, I went a little crazy with a 1" circle punch and created the side borders and stitched them down. (This is a great technique to use those favorite scraps you just can't throw away, without overwhelming your pictures.)

Then with a Heidi Swapp star stencil and gold paint a little shimmer was added at the top of the page. The photos were attached with 2 horizontal strips to ground them.

The title is a combination of Thickers and letters from a Lifestyle die cut. To finish off this page I added a few stickers by Simple Stories, Wild Daisy flower die cuts by Simon Says Stamps, gems and a twine bow. (For fun, can you find the Bobunny tear strip on this layout?)
Thank you so very much for sharing this big day with me!

Awesome Card

Hello and Welcome!

Hope you are enjoying the new year so far. I have a fun and fast card for you today!

I felt using black card stock would add a little drama and enhance the glittery gold sparkle on the CAS-ual Fridays die cut stars (cut from DCWV glitter paper). The sentiment is from Cas-ual Friday's Rad stamp set. The fun confetti background paper is Calypso by Quick Quotes. The black paper has a pretty stitched border and was die cut with Simon Says Stamps' Bundle Of Stitched Shapes. I finished things off with sequins.
