Tyler's Birthday

Hello and welcome!

Most of December my crafting was dedicated to creating cards, so it is a real joy today that I can finally get back to scrapbooking. Here is a fun page about my son, Tyler's, birthday. Tyler is a big eater and this enormous burger is right up his alley.

I needed some help getting back into scrapping, so I of course went to Rochelle Spears' blog which offered an inspiring sketch. She has teamed up with Stacy who has a great mood board. I was inspired by dark colors with pops of red and the stars in her photos. You can find links to their blogs below.

The pattern paper is by Carta Bella (Cartopia). The silver letters are Thickers and the "happy" embellishment is a die cut by Whimsy Stamps.

Stunning Gold and Black Card

Hello and welcome!

We are so lucky to still have real scrapbook stores here in Minnesota. Last week the Pine City Scrapbooking Company had a super fun Doe's Day Out with hot hard cider, homemade baked goodies and Make N Takes! It was amazing. One of the Make N Takes was this beautiful card.

Black cardstock was run through an embossing folder and gold paint was brushed lightly on the raised areas. A simple but stunning technique - and one of my new favorites! The beautiful sentiment and frame, cut from mirrored gold cardstock, are die cuts by Taylored Expressions.

Hello and welcome!

My kids, Tyler & Shara, just closed on their new home! We are so excited for them!!! I thought it would be fun to mail this cute snowman card to their new address.

The adorable snowman is a stamp by Penny Black. This is my new favorite winter stamp! He is colored with watercolor markers. The dimensional snowballs beside the snowman were created with Liquid Applique. The sentiment is by Hero Arts and was heat embossed with Ranger's Princess Gold.

Merry Moose Card

Hello and welcome!

The holidays are in full swing here at the Swart household. The decorating is almost done, we still need to get another Christmas stocking for newest family member, daughter-in-law Sharadhi, and we are off to get our youngest son, Aaron, from college today. I am also getting my handmade Christmas cards out. Here is a merry one:

All of the products are by Poppy Stamps, including the Wittled Moose and Snowflake Frame dies. I am loving the new Poppy "Merry"  stamp set with the large word and playful sentiments to go with it.

Snowflake Ornament Card

Hello and welcome!

It is a busy time getting the tree up, buying gifts and finishing up the dozens of cards that must be mailed soon. Here is a festive card I created:

I used my new Hero Arts' Snowflakes and Ornament Fancy Die. My friend, Barb, also got this die and I can't wait to see what she does with it. The beautiful sentiments are also by Hero Arts.

I love the look of the lacy snowflakes. Here is a close-up so you can see them better.

Felt Stamped Coffee Card

Hello and welcome!

Once a month I am lucky enough to be able to craft with an amazing group of women. Last Saturday was the all day crop with over 60 women (and one gentleman) attending! Most of us follow Stamp Junkies, but there are many other types of crafters there as well.

At this event, Sue Doherty, from Therm-o-web, joined us and did a fun make-n-take showing us how to stamp and embossing on their crafting felt. The background of this card is Therm-o-web's white felt on which I stamped Simon Says Stamp's Fun & Festive Outline Snowflakes stamp. Therm-o-web's felt is backed with paper and is super easy to work with.

I finished off the card by adding Simon Says Stamp's Coffee Cup and Hello die cuts plus a few snowflakes by The Cat's Pajamas.

This card is entered in:

If you are in the St.Paul, Minnesota area and want to join us, all crafters are welcome. We usually meet the first Friday of the month from 6pm to 11pm at St. John Vianney Church, 19th and Bromley in South St.Paul. If you have any questions just leave them in the comments.

Cup of Christmas Cheer Card

Hello and welcome!

It is supposed to snow here in Minnesota tomorrow, which is really early for us. So to embrace the weather, I thought I'd make a snow filled card.

I used the following dies by The Cat's Pajamas: Snowflake Lace Paper, Cups Duo and Heart Swirl. The sentiment is from TCP's Bunny Christmas stamp set and was embossed with Ranger's Princess Gold embossing powder.

Coffee Awesome Card

Hello and welcome!

One of my dearest friends' husband, Darren, custom roasts coffee beans for her coffee. Recently they were kind enough to share these heavenly beans with me. OMG the coffee was so smooth and delicious. I just had to sent Darren this thank you card:

The cup and sentiment are by Paper Smooches. Robin's Nest drops were also added.

Ai Be Merry Card

Hello and welcome!

Love the Art Impression's Girlfriends sets. They usually feature 4 ladies which is the number in my "small gang!" We are all card makers and love to create cards featuring The Girlfriends and sending them to each other. This one is going to Roxie.

Our gang is really into watercoloring right now, so this Art Impressions image was colored with Zig watercolor markers.

Homecoming Parade

Hello and welcome!

We dropped Aaron off at college two months ago and we really miss him. So we drove to Wisconsin to see him! As it was Carroll University's homecoming, we also got to see Aaron perform with the marching band in the half time show and parade through the streets of Waukesha.  It was spectacular!

I used Echo Park's My Favorite Fall pattern papers. The leaves were created with a die cut from The Cat's Pajamas. This page is based on a sketch from Rochelle Spears' blog. I was also inspired by the colors and leaves from Scrap With Stacy's inspiration photo.

Thankful Wreath Card

Hello and welcome!

I have just discovered how much fun cut files are for making scrapbook pages. So after making a layout using this Leaf Wreath cut file by Jillibean Soup (see my last post), I shrunk it and created this card:

The beautiful sentiment is Memory Box's Thankful Jotted Script.
